The Events series (approximately 0.6 linear feet, 18.6 GB ) contains audiovisual recordings, photographs, programs, speaker profiles, awards, and other materials relating to various events and programs, symposia, and celebrations. Materials include correspondence and memoranda, schedules, forms, and visual materials related to the Battle of the Books program. The series also contains speaker profiles and event information from the Children's Literature Conference including that of authors Ernest J. Gaines and Chris Van Allsburg, and illustrator Jerry Pinkney. Analog and digital images and videos highlight the Distinguished American Award and its 2010 through 2012 recipients, Detroit businessmen Walter E. Douglas, Sr. (President-Avis Ford), John A. James (Chairman/CEO/Founder-James Group International, Inc.), and David Segura (CEO-Vision IT). This series also includes materials related to the YES High School Symposium, college information sessions, and two theatrical productions (Les Miserables and Spunk) put on by YES for PREP cohorts.
