The Professional Files series contains materials from Nordby's activity as a member of the Michigan Women's Commission as well as files derived from her research undertaken during the drafting of what would become Michigan Criminal Sexual Conduct Act. It also includes a number of personal writings on various topics, legal reports, and speeches she gave over the course of her career.

In addition to Virginia Nordby's professional files, this series includes limited correspondence between her husband, Dr. Gordon Nordby, and students under his mentorship at Stanford University.
