Myron Ezra Wegman, 1908-2004, was a leader in public health and clinical pediatrics for seven decades. The collection consists of personal and professional papers covering his career in medicine and public health and includes correspondence, reports, speeches, travel diaries, course material, reprints, and minutes and notes on organizations to which he belonged.

The Myron Ezra Wegman collection is divided into seven series: Biographical and Early Materials, 1939-2004, University of Michigan, 1960-1988, Comprehensive Health Planning Organizations, 1968-1979, Associations, Committees, and Projects, 1949-1990, Post-Retirement Period, 1974-1993, Reprints, 1930-1989, and Topical Files.

Nam Center for Korean Studies (University of Michigan) records, 1989-2015

Established in 1995 as the Korean Studies Program, it was upgraded to the Center for Korean Studies in 2007, and renamed the Nam Center for Korean Studies in 2010. The mission of the Center is to promote research and study on Korea. It works to strengthen the study of the Korean language, promote graduate training, and sponsors events to showcase Korean culture. The records group focuses on the events and programming and contains some information on the background of the program.

The Nam Center for Korean Studies Program records date from 1995 to the present. The information is sparse, with the main focus being events sponsored by the program. Some information regarding the history of the program is also included.

The record group is divided into two series: Administration and Background and Events.

The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill is a grassroots support and advocacy group for the mentally ill and their families. This record group focuses on the NAMI Michigan and NAMI Lansing chapters of the national organization. Records in this collection include annual reports, bylaws, meeting minutes and agendas, correspondence, event materials, educational and advocacy program materials, brochures, newspapers, newsletters, resource guides, and various other printed materials.

The records of NAMI Michigan and NAMI Lansing document the dedicated efforts of the two groups in providing support, education, advocacy, and research for the mentally ill and their families. The primary focus of their work has evolved into building a community for all those affected by mental illness. Materials include reports, board meeting minutes, correspondence, information about events and publications.

The series in the record group are: Administrative Files, Correspondence, Events, Programs, Publications, and Miscellaneous.

Nancy Bylan Bratman papers, 1947-1956

A Detroit, Mich. native and a University of Michigan graduate (Class of 1951). As a student, Bratman worked as a reporter and associate editor for the Michigan Daily student newspaper. After graduation, Bratman worked as an editor for various trade publications, including serving as a guest editor at Mademoiselle magazine. Collection includes two scrapbooks and a small collection of papers highlighting social activities and student life on campus, clippings of Michigan Daily articles authored by Bratman, graduation literature, and correspondence.

The collection includes two scrapbooks, one containing newspaper clippings from March of 1949 to November of 1950 (most if not all appear to be Michigan Daily articles authored by Bratman), and a second comprising of graduation literature, correspondence, materials highlighting social activities and her work at Mademoiselle, and several photographs. Also included in the collection papers written for different classes, postcards, and an August 1951 edition of Mademoiselle magazine.

Nathaniel A. Balch papers, 1797-1884

Kalamazoo, Michigan, educator, Democratic state senator. Correspondence, legal papers, genealogical data, diaries and account books; and compositions concerning Kalamazoo College, Middlebury College, Zebulon Pike, James W. Ransom, temperance, the Presbyterian church of Kalamazoo, and Marshall Academy.

The collection includes family letters of the Balch and Dungan families, with one letter (1813) reporting on the death and burial of General Zebulon Pike. There are some legal and business papers, some private and some connected with Kalamazoo College. The diaries are incomplete with brief entries. The volumes were also used for legal notes and business accounts. Other papers include manuscripts (1834-35) during Balch's stay at Middlebury College; addresses on temperance, education, and other subjects; and miscellaneous post office and county records. There are some papers of Balch's son while a student at The University of Michigan (1865-66).

Quaker abolitionist and physician in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, and Schoolcraft, Michigan. Correspondence of Thomas, his wife Pamela S. Brown Thomas, and their children; addresses, autobiography, financial ledgers, and files relating to business activities, medical practice, and anti-slavery activities.

The collection is divided into two series: Correspondence and Other papers: anti-slavery, medical practice, and family.

The correspondence is of Thomas, his wife Pamela S. Brown Thomas, their children Ella, Malcolm, and Stanton, and relatives, friends, public leaders, abolitionists, and publishers. These letters deal largely with family affairs, land transactions, medical discoveries, woman suffrage, the Liberty Party, and Thomas's anti-slavery activities. There are also letters of Stanton B. Thomas while a student at the University of Michigan (1859-1864) and Civil War letters of S. B. Thayer, medical director of the Merrill Horse Regiment. Other Thomas papers include manuscript addresses, essays and other papers; a manuscript autobiography of Thomas; three account books, 1832-1879, pertaining mainly to his medical practice and other business affairs. Of interest is a prospectus for a newspaper, the American Freeman, which lists Schoolcraft area subscribers.
