The papers of Richard C. Frank, preservation architect and planner, contain paper files as well as architectural drawings and sketches from Frank’s Preservation / Urban Design / Incorporated firm and from his work after leaving the firm in 1984. Major projects include Crossroads Village in Genesee County, the Detroit People Mover, Orchestra Hall of Detroit, and the Smithsonian Institution Art and Industries Building.

The Frank papers are organized into six series: Project Files, Orchestra Hall, Crossroads Village, Smithsonian Institution Arts and Industries Building, Other Files, and Visual Material. The records contain paper files as well as architectural drawings and sketches. In most instances, the container list reflects the original order of the files. If a project number was written on a file folder or tube, this number is also recorded in the container list. Additionally, the majority of the material has been kept in its original folder.

Professor of English at the University of Michigan. Correspondence concerning his work at the University of Michigan; letters from former students describing their World War II experiences; and papers concerning his organizational and University activities.

The collection is arranged into two series: Correspondence and Topical and University Activities. The correspondence includes a file of letters from former students describing their World War II experiences. There is also a subseries of professional correspondence from 1947 to 1964. This subseries is arranged alphabetically and includes letters from such personages as Langston Hughes, Victor G. Reuther, Elmer Rice, and William W. Whitehouse. The Topical and University Activities subseries relates to Boys varied interests, such as the Art Cinema League, the Faculty Club, and the American Association of University Professors.

Professor at University of Michigan School of Music, papers largely related to the Music School's Honors Program and Crawford's teaching career.

The Crawford papers in the main date from 1949 to 2001. Historical material collected by Crawford dates from 1893 to 1915. The Crawford papers measure 3.75 linear feet. They consist almost exclusively of records from the School of Music's Honors Program, which Crawford administered in the 1960s, and Crawford's teaching material. The collection has been divided into four series, School of Music Records, Teaching Material, Other Professional Material, and Collected Historical Music Material.

State Republican politician, aide and political advisor to George Romney, legal advisor to the governor and later undersecretary of Housing and Urban Development. Material concerning his campaign for the state attorney general's office in 1956, the elections of 1960, 1962, 1964, and 1968, and the state constitutional convention, 1961-1963; and files detailing his career in Washington at HUD.

The papers of Richard Van Dusen reflect his public career and his close involvement with George Romney. The papers divide themselves into two series. Political and Legislative Files relates to his own political career and to his association with state Republican party politics and his relationship with Governor George Romney. The other series concerns his work with Romney within the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Papers of Richard Ahern, Ann Arbor architect and community planner for over 40 years, and instructor at Lawrence Institute of Technology from 1977 to 1981. Collection consists mainly of documents from Ahern’s professional projects, as well as his teaching career at Lawrence.

The Richard Ahern papers consist of writings, correspondence, sketches and designs relating to his professional career as an architect, community planner, and educator. The collection provides insight into Ahern's creative and philosophical growth as a designer and planner, and provides snapshots of the growth of several Michigan communities in the 1960s and 1970s.

When they were donated, the Richard Ahern papers contained a large volume of newspaper clippings, publications, and similar research material that Ahern collected in preparation for each of his projects. Although only those documents that directly reflect Ahern's work were kept (a small fraction of the original volume), much of the overall organization schema was maintained.

The Richard Ahern papers are divided into five series: Personal, Early Designs and Sketches, Architecture, Planning, and Teaching.

Professor of psychology at the University of Michigan, and an organizer of the teach-ins on the Vietnam War in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and elsewhere, 1965-1966. Autobiographical papers; files on the protest against the Vietnam War; and materials on Program for Educational and Social Change, an effort to open university courses to the local community.

The Richard D. Mann papers are arranged in chronological order according to his teach-in activism and teaching activities. The materials include correspondence, notes of telephone conversations and meetings, leaflets, course material, research papers, conference pamphlets, and printed materials. The Vietnam War Protest materials contain interesting correspondence with McGeorge Bundy, national security advisor to President Johnson, and Mann's organizational notes. The Program for Educational and Social Change materials detail Mann's efforts to teach free courses on community activism and the response of the university administration to his efforts.

Richard D. McLellan is a Michigan lawyer and government policy specialist. He has been actively engaged in government service and was an important advocate in Michigan’s school choice movement. The collection documents his work with TEACH Michigan, an organization established to amend Michigan’s constitution to allow use of school vouchers and increase the number of charter schools in the state. Also material related to speeches and remarks made on various subjects.

The McLellan collection documents McLellan's work with TEACH Michigan, the organization established to support school choice measures in Michigan. These measures included a proposed amendment to Michigan's constitution to permit the use of school vouchers and to increase the number of charter schools operating in the state. The TEACH Michigan series has been arranged in the following subseries: Background, Charter Schools, Constitutional Amendment, Correspondence, Legislation, and Organizational Files.

This collection is comprised of color photographic prints (4 x 6) taken by Swartz of the demolition of "Old Main" University Hospital in 1989.

Professor of speech and drama at the University of Michigan, 1904-1949; papers document Hollister's teaching and development of the speech and drama programs at the university, include correspondence, course material and lecture notes, papers and photographs relating to dramatic productions, and some family material.

The Richard D. T. Hollister papers, 1887-1960, document his career as a professor of speech and theater and the development of the Department of Speech and theatrical productions at the University of Michigan. Correspondents include: Thomas E. Black, Marion L. Burton, John R. Effinger, Edward H. Kraus, J. Raleigh Nelson, James M. O'Neill, Theodore Roosevelt, Alexander G. Ruthven, and Thomas C. Trueblood. The Hollister papers are divided into three series; Richard D. T. Hollister, Hollister family and Photographs.

Dr. Richard E. Smith is a Black University of Michigan alum, member of the Epsilon chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, a historically Black fraternity, and an obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) who worked to enhance prenatal care for teenage and young mothers. He was also involved in efforts to commemorate the role that Detroit and its institutions played in the Underground Railroad. Includes award information, biographical and genealogical material, correspondence, publications, a scrapbook, and topical files.

The Richard E. Smith papers document Smith's personal and professional activities, particularly his involvement in the Epsilon chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, professional career as an obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN), and efforts to commemorate the role that Detroit and its institutions played in the Underground Railroad.
