Religious pacifist organization; correspondence, minutes of meetings, files of the editor of the Michigan F.O.R. News, topical files, and sound recording.

This record group came from two different sources. The papers for the period 1940 to 1951 were discovered in the basement of the Guild House at the University of Michigan. The papers for the years 1951 to 1957 are the files of past editors of the newsletter which were turned over to Rebecca Shelley when she became editor in 1958. The files on her period as editor are located in her personal papers also located at the Michigan Historical Collections. There is much additional information on the Michigan Fellowship of Reconciliation in the Shelley papers both before and after she served as editor. The library also has an almost complete file of the newsletters of the Michigan Fellowship of Reconciliation between 1940 and 1968 which has been separately cataloged and is not described in this finding aid.

The record group has been divided into the following series: Correspondence; Organizational Papers; Other Organizations; Record of meetings; and Other materials.

Committee established to celebrate 100th anniversary of University of Michigan football; files relating to U-M football and to the work of the committee.

The records of the Michigan Football Centennial Committee measure 0.8 linear feet and document the life of the organization from August 7, 1978 to April 9, 1981. The record group has been arranged into two principle series of materials: papers concerning the history of UM football, and records of the Michigan Football Centennial Committee.

The Michigan Garden Clubs was formed in 1931 as an organization of separate Michigan gardening groups. The record group includes administrative and historical files, activities files, awards, correspondence, yearbooks, and photographs.

The records of the Michigan Garden Clubs are a synthesis of the collections kept by individual members of the organization over time. The structure of the finding aid reflects this in that several topics such as Meeting Minutes, Correspondence, and Newsletters, appear in multiple series of the collection. The record group is divided into eight series: Administration; Activities; Landscape Design Critics Council; Gardening Consultants Council; Ruth Knott files; Awards, Loda Lake Nature Preserve, Yearbooks, and 2017 accessions.

The Michigan Historical Collections Polar Bear Expedition Photograph Collection includes images relating to the American intervention in north Russia, 1918-1919, the "Polar Bear Expedition." The provenance of most of the photographs has been lost and therefore these images have been grouped together by subject into an artificial accumulation.

The digitized Polar Bear Expedition photograph collection is a part of a larger collection which includes a wide range of subject matter. The 24 images relating to the "Polar Bear Expedition" include photographs and postcards depicting various scenes, events, and individuals. Identified individuals include Private Walter Streit of Company M, 339th Infantry and General Richardson (W. P. Richardson?), as well as various photographs of Russian people. The collection also includes photographs of Company M, 339th Infantry and the 339th Infantry Supply Company and a photograph of a marker for Company H, 339th Infantry soldiers killed in action. Russian places documented in these photographs include Murmansk, Tegra, Archangel, Konetsbor, and the Vologda Railway.

The Michigan Historical Collections Topical Photograph Collection offer a broad and varied glimpse into nearly one hundred years of Michigan history, from the 1860s into the 1950s. The provenance of most of the photographs has been lost and therefore these images have been grouped together by subject into an artificial accumulation. Subjects depicted range from industry and transportation to clothing styles and social customs.

The photographs in this collection were received from various sources. Subjects include carriages, automobiles, Great Lakes shipping, railroads, and mass transit, especially street railroads. There are also images documenting activities within the mining, forestry, and lumber industries, mostly in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Also included are photographs of various ethnic groups and their societies, notably of Native Americans (1870s-1930s) of the Manistee and Ludington, Michigan, areas. Some of the images are street views and private residences in various Michigan towns and cities. Of interest are photographs of Michigan units taking part in the Spanish-American War and the "Polar Bear Expedition" of World War I. There is also a series of bookplates, [acquired from?] William H. Bicknell, many of which relate to the University of Michigan.

Reports and administrative records of WPA project to survey historical records in Michigan; includes correspondence, drafts of guides to county archives, proceedings of county boards of supervisors, field reports of workers, and copies of land patents for some counties; also material relating to the history of Blacks in Michigan.

The Historical Records Survey record group documents the activities and the product of the legions of depression era workers who inventoried the records held in county courthouses, municipal offices some private repositories. The records include correspondence, drafts of guides to county archives, proceedings of county boards of supervisors, field reports of workers, and copies of land patents for some counties; also material relating to the history of Blacks in Michigan.

Originally the H.R.S. records transferred to the Michigan Historical Collections measured about 121 linear feet. After processing, the collection consisted of 26 feet of records relating to the H.R.S. and 65 feet of transcripts of county and municipal records. Of the remaining 30 feet, 29.5 feet of duplicate, extraneous, or insignificant materials were discarded (described in more detail further on) and approximately half of a linear foot of printed material was transferred to the library's printed collection.

Statewide organization established in part to create an awareness of Michigan's cultural heritage and architectural history and to encourage the preservation and stewardship of important state historic resources. Records document the administration and programs of the Network, including conferences, publications, training sessions, and awards given for local preservation achievements.

These records were assembled and processed in 2004 in preparation for a conference marking the organization's 25th anniversary. The records are organized in five series corresponding to the creators of the records.

The record group, a single series of records, is made up of three subseries as well as a number of smaller groupings of materials. The three subseries are Imprints by date; Imprints by city; and Imprints by checklist number. The smaller groupings include an inventory of state documents, 1851-1878; slips for works not included in the checklist, questionable and phantom imprints, and other problems; and some correspondence and project manuals.

Imprints by date, 1796-1860 (Boxes 1-2) includes inventory slips, most in Style B, arranged by date. Within each year, the slips are in random order.

Imprints by city, 1796-1876 (Boxes 2-4) includes inventory slips, most in Style B, arranged by city and within each city by date. Within each year, the slips are in random order.

Imprints by checklist number, 1796-1850 (Box 5) includes inventory slips for works listed in the published checklist, most in Style A, with editorial notes used in preparing the checklist.

The Michigan Historical Records Survey also published a checklist of New Mexico imprints, but it had been edited elsewhere and no records of this publication are found in the records of the Michigan Imprints Inventory.

Microfilm copy of records of quartermaster of Michigan Civil War unit of U.S. Army. Includes reports, muster rolls, equipment inventories, payrolls and other administrative records.

This collection consists of the quartermaster records for Co. F of the 1st Michigan Regiment Infantry, arranged in chronological order. The bulk of the records are from 1863-1864, and include reports for the following: articles lost or destroyed; auditor; clothing, camp and garrison equipage allocation and return; equipment; expenditures; inspection; inventories; muster rolls; orders; ordnance and ordnance stores; pay rolls; stores; and vouchers.

A multidisciplinary program, based at the University of Michigan, formed in 1992 to promote research and education on women's health issues; includes correspondence, publicity material, grant files, and audiotapes of interviews and seminars.

This small record group represents the concerted efforts of University of Michigan faculty and students to increase research and teaching on women's health. It is arranged in a single alphabetical series that includes correspondence, informational materials, newsletters, a curriculum proposal, news releases and clippings, and pamphlets and program announcements. The largest portion of the record group consists of research grant proposals. The files of the Research Grant Review Committee, later known as the Research Development Committee, which reviewed and evaluated the proposals, include correspondence and evaluations of the committee. The record group also contains a collection of audiocassettes that include interviews with summer interns, and seminar and symposium proceedings.
