The Shaw collection is an assemblage of personal materials such as correspondence, essays and student notebook, and of Shaw's work as an artists including drawings, etchings, and other examples of artistic expression that he used in connection with his work with the University's Alumni Association and its publications. Records of Shaw's activities with the university will be found in the record groups for the Alumni Association and the Bureau of Alumni Relations also located at the Bentley Library. The collection has been divided into five series: Correspondence, Essays, Drawings and Etchings, Miscellaneous, and Photographs and other Visual Materials.

Professor of mathematics at the University of Michigan, officer and long-time member of the American Association of University Professors, especially its University of Michigan chapter. Papers relate to his career as a mathematics professor at the University of Michigan, his active involvement with the University of Michigan Chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), as well as a series regarding his involvement with the Ann Arbor Unitarian Fellowship. Materials also include the personal correspondence of the Kaplan family.

The papers of Wilfred Kaplan consist of five and a half linear feet of materials. Those relating to his career at the University of Michigan Department of Mathematics date from 1958 to 1986. The materials involving the University of Michigan Chapter of the American Association of University Professors date from 1972 to 2000. The most heavily documented of these are from the years 1980 to 1995. The personal correspondence of the Kaplan family covers the years 1936-1956, 1958, 1962-1970, 1980-1981, and 1985. The papers are divided into three series with fifteen sub-series.

Executive with the American Red Cross. Correspondence, diaries, reports, memoranda, and other materials relating to relief and refugee work during World War II in Italy, France, and Germany (Buchenwald), his work in re-establishing Red Cross societies in Austria, Hungary, and the Middle East after the war, and his survey of humanitarian problems resulting from the Palestinian conflict, 1948.

The Wilfrid de St. Aubin collection consists of seven feet of correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other official papers covering his Red Cross work during World War II and the immediate postwar period. Of special interest is a letter and report written by St. Aubin containing his impression and observations of the Buchenwald concentration camp. St. Aubin was one of the first to come to the camp after its liberation. There are also diaries which provide added background and detail of St. Aubin's varied career.

Professor of education and psychology at the University of Michigan, director of child development research, 1929-1952, and dean of the University's School of Education, 1952-1970. Professional correspondence and topical files concerning his interest in the University's elementary school, the Interamerican Society of Psychology, and UNESCO; reprints and manuscripts of writings; speeches relating to education, child development and child psychology; and visual materials.

The Willard C. Olson collection consists of professional correspondence and topical files concerning his interest in the University's elementary school, the Interamerican Society of Psychology, and UNESCO; reprints and manuscripts of writings; speeches relating to education, child development and child psychology; and visual materials. The collection is organized into the following series: Personal/Biographical; Correspondence; Manuscripts, articles, reviews, and speeches; Topical files; Miscellaneous; Visual Materials; and Topical Files transferred from the U-M School of Education record group in 1995.

Mayor of Charlevoix, Michigan, editor and publisher of the Charlevoix Courier 1890-1920, secretary of the state lodge of the Knights of Pythias. Includes correspondence and miscellaneous papers relating to the Knights of Pythias; and Civil War reminiscences and letters of his father, Carlos Hampton, surgeon with the Michigan 4th Infantry; and his mother's account of her Civil War experiences in Hunt County, Texas.

The Will Hampton papers consist of correspondence, poetry, speeches, and historical reminiscences of Will Hampton as well as poetry and reminiscences of his mother Cornelia C. Hampton and correspondence of his father Carlos D. Hampton relating to his service in the Civil War. The collection is arranged in three series: Cornelia C. Hampton, Carlos D. Hampton and Will E. Hampton.

Will Hathaway, an Ann Arbor resident and University of Michigan graduate, is an activist mainly involved in peace and arms control issues. Hathaway's papers document his involvement in issues while a student at the University of Michigan, his involvement in the arms control lobby, and his efforts in organizing a 1999 community forum on nuclear weapons abolition.

Alpena, Michigan, businessman, University of Michigan regent and Democratic governor of Michigan, 1933-1934; correspondence, diaries, business papers, and other items, concerning Democratic party affairs, state and national elections, real estate and financial transactions, and photographs.

The William A. Comstock papers document activities of a businessman/promoter and a Democratic Party functionary. Although the collection dates from 1902 to 1949, the bulk of the papers date from 1919 to 1932, the period of Comstock's primary business involvements. The collection has been arranged into five series: Correspondence, Other Papers and Records, Business Record Books, Diaries, and Photographs.

The collection includes postcards with images of the aftermath of the three bombings of the school in Bath, Michigan, on May 18, 1927.
