Ann Arbor, Michigan, women's organization formed to provide friendship and assistance to foreign women visitors to Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan. Minutes, reports, bulletins and newsletters, slide presentations, and other materials relating to their activities.

The records of the International Neighbors document the activities, services, and organization of the International Neighbors. It is significant for showing the development of a community organization to satisfy needs of foreign women in Ann Arbor and for revealing social interactions among American and foreign women. The record group is organized into three series: Administrative Files, Activities, and Publications.

Administrative Files

The Administrative Files series includes records of the foundation, organizational structure, and operation of the International Neighbors. The Annual Meeting Reports and Minutes provides a year-by-year summary of the major activities and concerns of the organization. Two folders of histories include Esther Dunham's account of the organization's beginnings as well as later chronologies and summaries. The Participant-Guests Committee folder is a rich source of statistical information about the number and nationality of the organization's participants. The folder of Presidential Annual Reports fills in the gaps of documentation in the 1990s, when Board Minutes and Treasurer's Annual reports are missing.

The University of Michigan Student Activities and Leadership Office (SAL) is a resource designed to help students make the most of their co-curricular experience; developing effective student organizations and student leaders through training and education. This record group includes materials documenting oversight of many student leadership and service programs including the Michigan LeaderShape Program, the annual Student Recognition Awards, and the student organization the University Activities Center (UAC).

The University of Michigan Student Activities and Leadership (SAL) record group contains materials generating from affiliate organizations and offices dating from as early as 1959, but the bulk of the materials were generated in the mid 1990s and focus on the work the office has done as SAL. The record group consists of four series: Administrative Files, Program Files, Photographs, and Publications.

Administrative Files

The Administrative Files, 1982-2008 series (0.5 linear feet) contains general administrative files generated by the office and its executive director. Included in this is an organizational history file that contains valuable information about the office's history and its relationships with other university units. This series also contains annual reports, memos, correspondence, and end of term reports that provide valuable insight into the running of the office.

The League of Women Voters of Allen Park was established as a provisional league in 1955, formally recognized in 1956, and operated until 1986 when it merged with the Downriver League of Women Voters. Annual meeting and board meeting minutes and reports, 1955-1986; member newsletters, 1955-1986; topical files comprising committee minutes, reports, position statements, correspondence, pamphlets, and other publications. Subjects covered by files include municipal, county, state, and national elections, and social, political, and environmental issues.

The records of the Allen Park League of Women Voters consist of annual meeting and board meeting minutes and reports, 1955-1986; member newsletters, 1955-1986; topical files comprising committee minutes, reports, position statements, correspondence, pamphlets, and other publications. Subjects covered by files include municipal, county, state, and national elections, and social, political, and environmental issues. The records have been arranged into two series: Administrative Files and Topical Files. Although a wide range of issues of concern to the League's members in the 1960s and 1970s are represented in these files, the documentation of local politics and elections, social services, and environmental issues is particularly strong. As such, these files provide a detailed account of the issues raised by the growth of Allen Park from a small village into a suburban city between 1955 and 1986.

Administrative Files

The Administrative Files span the years 1955 to 1986. Files documenting the organization of the provisional League in 1955-1956 are followed by three major sets of files: Annual Meeting Minutes and Reports, 1956-1985; Board Meeting Minutes and Reports, 1956-1985; and a run of the League's "Allen Park Voter" Newsletter, 1955-1986.

Michigan Peaceworks (MPW) was an Ann Arbor based grassroots organization dedicated to peace, social justice, and human rights that was founded in 2001 following the September 11th attacks. The collection includes material related to their public events and outreach activities in Ann Arbor. These events and activities are well represented in posters, fliers, and photographs.

The Michigan Peaceworks Collection (4.5 linear feet) is largely composed of visual material in the form of photographs, flyers, and posters, related to events and rallies sponsored by Michigan Peaceworks and offers strong documentation of the peace community in Michigan in the decade following the September 11th attacks. The collection has been arranged in the following series: Administrative Files, Events and Activities, Publications and Outreach, Topical Files, Digital Material, and Visual Material.

Administrative Files

The earliest records within the St. Mary Chapel administrative files series are fragmentary and incomplete. For the years 1921 to 1942, the only surviving documentation are three volumes containing listings of Sunday pulpit announcements. There is greater information for the period since 1942, including correspondence with the archdiocese of Detroit, and correspondence relating to the Gabriel Richard Fundraising Drive. Of interest is correspondence of Father John Fauser between 1967 and 1969, which provides an idea of the changing role of the church and worship format in relation to the social upheavals of the 1960s. The period of 1969 to 1979 is covered in greater detail largely because of the creation of the Chapel Council whose minutes are part of this collection.

Administrative files, conference proceedings, project proposals, research files, records, and photographs relating to continuing education conferences and workshops.

The records of the Institute consist of forty-nine linear feet of manuscripts and printed materials. The records date form 1965 to 1983. The record group is divided into four broad Series: Administrative Files (boxes 1-7), Research Files (boxes 8-18), Continuing Education (boxes 19-48), and Photographs (box 49). Of these, only the Administrative Files have been closely processed. The Administration Files are divided into several subseries, the most substantive of which are History of ISMRRD, Committees, Institute Reviews, and Projects, Proposals and Reports.

Task Force created by President Mary Sue Coleman in 2006 to help frame the University of Michigan's response to Proposal 2, a state ballot initiative that banned the use of affirmative action and preferential treatment in hiring and admissions decisions. Includes administrative records of the Task Force and its subcommittees in digital format as well as related online resources created by the university. Prominent records include the final report of the Task Force, interim reports of subcommittees, email correspondence, and archived Websites that promoted Task Force findings and diversity in general at the university.

The Diversity Blueprints Task Force records will be of value to researchers interested in the University of Michigan's efforts to maintain and enhance the diversity of its campus in response to the limits imposed by the 2006 Michigan ballot initiative, Proposal 2, on the use of affirmative action for admissions decisions. The record group is entirely digital and is comprised of research materials related to other states, statistics and analyses of diversity efforts at the University of Michigan, email correspondence, and reports and recommendations made by the task force and its subcommittees. The record group is comprised of two series: Administrative Files and Archived Websites.

The Administrative Files series is comprised of records created by the Diversity Blueprints Task Force and its subcommittees in the fulfillment of their official charge from President Mary Sue Coleman. The records in this series were originally created and maintained in a collaborative digital workspace (CTools, the University of Michigan's implementation of the open source Sakai platform). Screenshots of this software platform are included alongside records to provide contextual information about the original environment of the materials. The series is divided into six sections: records of the full Task Force, records of the four subcommittees (Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid, and Pipeline; Graduate Student Recruitment, Retention, and Pipeline; Faculty and Staff Hiring and Retention; and Educational Outreach and Engagement), and the Task Force final report. The task force and subcommittee records consist of email correspondence (with attachments), report drafts, suggestions from the community, information on diversity initiatives at peer institutions, meeting materials, PowerPoint presentations, and reviews of U-M efforts to promote diversity.

The records are divided into four series: Administrative files; Minute books of Annual Meetings; Minutes of Board of Trustees; and Scrapbooks of the women's auxiliary of the organization.

The University of Michigan's Communicative Disorders Clinic was one of the first programs in communications disorders in the United States. The clinic administers a wide range of speech-language and audiology services to children and adults. One program of the clinic was the Shady Trails Camp, a summer overnight camp for youths suffering from a range of communications disorders which had been started in 1932 by John Clancy. The records are predominantly administrative files of the Communicative Disorders Clinic and of Shady Trails Camp and are divided into two series: Administrative File and Shady Trails Camp. Includes photographs of Shady Trails campers, staff and activities.

The records of the Communicative Disorders Clinic are predominantly administrative files of the clinic and of Shady Trails Camp. The record group came to the archives in two accessions. The material received in 1996 is in the Administrative Files series. A second series, Shady Trails Camp Files, was created from the material received in 1997. A small amount of material from the 1996 accession was interfiled into the Shady Trails Camp Files series.

Administrative Files

The two main subseries of the Administrative Files, Budgets and Development Correspondence, provide the most notable records in this series. Budgets provides information on the Clinic's financial operations from 1989 to 1995. Correspondence deals almost exclusively with external fundraising for the Clinic and is organized by the individuals solicited. The bulk of these records are from 1990 to 1995.

These records include the papers of a number of Oakland County NOW officers, particularly those of Judy Burgess, who served as Oakland County NOW's recording secretary from 1996 to 1999 and as president from 2001. Because the organization is largely volunteer-driven, the records are by no means comprehensive, and are limited to the materials produced by and/or received by the officers who donated the records. The collection is organized into two series: administrative files and topical files.

Administrative Files

The bulk of the collection consists of chapter newsletters in the administrative files series (3 folders). These chapter newsletters are the cornerstone of the collection, reflecting the chapter's activities across almost two decades -- from 1983 to 2002. Not only do the newsletters paint a picture of the chapter's activities, they also provide a glimpse into national and state affairs of interest to the Oakland County NOW.
