Articles, Manuscripts, and Poems, 1923-1959
Articles, Manuscripts and Poems contain both published and unpublished material written and collected by Aliya Ogdie-Hassen during her lifetime. Included in this series are articles written for the Islamic Information Series. These articles were later published in Muslim Life the journal of the Federation of Islamic Associations in the U.S. and Canada. Also included are several manuscripts that contain various Islamic children's stories which Hassen collected throughout the Arab world. Another manuscript contains various Arabic and Islamic cooking recipes that she had likewise collected during her travels. Lastly, the series contains a single hardbound volume of poetry that was written by Aliya Ogdie-Hassen between 1923 and 1940. There is also a folder of miscellaneous poems written both by Aliya and her only daughter, Amelia Hussein.
Subject Files
The Subject Files series, 1960-1981 (1.2 linear feet), was arranged alphabetically by Allan F. Smith, and maintained by him throughout his tenure at the University of Michigan. The original order of his subject files has been maintained. The materials in this series relate to Smith's professional activities during his tenure at U of M, and include correspondence, reports, presentations, professional travel information, and materials from his various speaking engagements.
Allan G. Felft papers
The Allan G. Feldt papers, 1962-2013, consist of materials related to his work creating simulation games for urban and regional planning. The collection includes manuals, correspondence, planning, and press materials related to the development of the Community Land Use Game (CLUG), the Northern Virginia Decision Simulation (NOVADS), Water and Land Resource Utilization Simulation (WALRUS), and the Population Policies Orientation Model (PPOM).
Background and planning, 1968-1988
The Background and Planning series (1968-1988) includes materials documenting the background and history of Earthworks, including clippings on the school, a history of the school written by Allan Schreiber, and various files relating to Pioneer High School unrest in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Planning documents consist of early founding material, including various proposals for alternative high schools and later Earthworks' planning documents.
Allen Bartlit Pond
The Allen Bartlit Pond subgroup is divided into Biographical Material, Correspondence and Writings. The correspondence is primarily with is brother Irving and other family members. The writings include some poetry and articles and essays on architecture and a variety of social issues. While in Europe, Allen Pond conducted several studies of European settlement houses from which he prepared a number of the articles and essays. These writings are included in the folder Notes and Manuscripts re: Settlement Houses.
