Professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing and a leading scholar and researcher in nursing education, practice, and programs with an emphasis on international education. Collection consists of records of Ketefian's work with the School of Nursing as well as with the University Senate, and the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies.

The Shaké Ketefian papers (4.5 linear feet) span from 1974 to 2011, and include correspondence, memoranda, publications, reports, presentations, and documentation related to her work in the School of Nursing as well as with the University Senate's Academic Affairs Advisory Committee, Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs, and the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies. The collection is comprised of five series: School of Nursing Administrative Files, School of Nursing Section, University Other, Rackham, and Publications. Each of the series is arranged in alphabetical order except for the Publications which are ordered by year.

Also contains publications from the School of Nursing Alumni Association, the Center for Nurasing Research, Continuing Education Services, and the Graduate Program in Medical-Surgical Nursing. Also included are publications pertaining to various symposia, and milestone anniversaries such as the Diamond and Centennial Celebrations.

The School of Nursing publications are divided into five series that are arranged in alpha-chronological order: Unit Publications, Sub-Unit Publications, Topical Files, Student Publications, and the Archived School of Nursing Website. The Unit Publications series is arranged by genre and contains printed material published specifically by the School of Nursing. Many of these publications are widely distributed and may be published at regular intervals. The Sub-Unit Publications series contains publications from subordinate offices, departments, programs and organizations within the School of Nursing. The Topical Publications contain brochures, calendars, invitations, and programs from milestone anniversaries and other celebrations. The Student Publications series contains newsletters published by School of Nursing students. The Archived Website series contains captured websites from or related to the School of Nursing from 2002 onward.

Unit Publications

The Unit Publications series includes research abstracts from graduate students and nursing specialists from 1965 to 1988; academic program brochures, catalogs, and other marketing materials; faculty, staff, and graduate student directories from 1971 to 1998; a history of the School of Nursing dated June 1953; numerous manuals regarding academic policies and procedures including faculty, staff, and student handbooks from 1938 to 2010; newsletters including The Bulletin (volumes 1-19), and volumes of News and Notes from 1986 to 1995.

This series also contains various progress reports, self-studies, and A Survey of Hospital Nurses: Summary Report. Also included are faculty research surveys; abstracts, brochures, and programs pertaining to faculty, student, and practitioner symposia.

Unit Publications

Unit Publications include bulletins, and long runs of the newsletters Findings and the School of Public Health Newsletter. The student directory, Photographic Roster, is available from 1960 through 1972. There is also a faculty Photographic Roster for the years 1969, 1979, and 1982. Also included are Self-Study reports for the years 1975, 1980 and 1985 and the Dean's Report which spans the period from 1960-1985.

Fauri Memorial Lecture Series in Child Welfare and the Leon and Josephine Winkelman Lecture series; manuals such as the Blue Book for Social Work Students, Manual for the Professional Practicum and the Student Guide to the Master's in Social Work Degree Program; newsletters such as Newsline and Ongoing; and reports including A Profile of Social Work Graduates and Research in Social Welfare: A Proposed Program for the University of Michigan. Foote, assistant in the University of Michigan Chemistry Laboratory; includes views of the expedition's boats and camps, natural features including the Pictured Rocks and waterfalls, mining operations, Indians, ships, and a lighthouse.

Topical Files

The Topical Files (1 liner foot) consist of an alphabetical run of files relating to student/community organizations and student academic programs. Included among the papers are files of HAP-NICA (Humanitarian Assistance Project for the Independent Development of Agriculture in Nicaragua), and documents about the University of Michigan's Committee on the Underclass Experience (CUE) and the University of Michigan's Residential College.

Hap-Nica was a project of the New World Agriculture Group and the Guild House Campus Ministry in Ann Arbor. Hap-Nica worked in conjunction with farm workers, unions and the Higher Institute of Agricultural Science in Nicaragua to promote the development of Nicaragua's capacity to raise its own food. Hap-Nica provided financial and technical assistance. The Hap-Nica newsletters document the projects and interests of the organization. Included within the files are the records of A2Mistad, a brigade that assisted in the construction of a soil testing laboratory in Managua, Nicaragua, to house equipment donated by the Italian government. The records include meeting minutes and fund raising information. Seeds of Hope, an eighteen-minute slide show documentary produced by Hap-Nica is also included within the files. The documentary includes slides, text and audio cassette recording.

The University of Michigan Committee on the Underclass Experience (CUE) originated in 1970. The committee, comprised of students and faculty, was concerned with improving the quality of teaching through grants, the appointment of departmental associates, an informal newsletter, seminars, workshops, and continuing education initiatives. The "General" folder contains information describing the fundamentals of the program.

University of Michigan graduate, Class of 1929, member of the Delta Chi fraternity, the Aces Club and the Trojan Club. Scrapbook contains photographs and ephemera documenting Fisher's immediate family, friends, travels, and time as a student. Images include depictions of fraternity and social club activities, graduation exercises, major sporting events, and the University of Michigan's Frosh-Soph Spring and Fall Games.

The Sol Fisher scrapbook contains mostly identified photographs documenting Fisher's immediate family, friends, his travels, and University of Michigan campus life. This includes the 1926 and 1927 Frosh-Soph Spring and Fall Games, and the 1925 Western Conference championship football game between the University of Michigan and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Other photographs document Delta Chi fraternity, Aces Club and Trojan Club activities, and the 1927 and 1929 Senior Swing Out exercises. Of note, are three Delta Chi photographs in which chapter members are posing with a small boy of color (identity unknown). A caption above one of the photographs states "Delta Chi-Help."

Also found within the scrapbook are photographs depicting several buildings on U-M campus, including the Law School, Martha Cook building, College of Engineering, and the Student Union building. Other photographs show prominent structures in Detroit, Mich., including the former General Motors Headquarters building and the construction of the Detroit-Windsor Bridge (the Ambassador Bridge).

Remaining materials within the scrapbook include commencement programs and ephemera, publications, and correspondence. Of note is what appears to be a 1928 prank letter addressed to Fisher in which a woman by the name of Sunshine is asking for his hand in marriage.

Scrapbook, 1913-1919, of Stanley G. Fontanna, documenting his time as University of Michigan student and track and field athlete, 1913-1917; and his service in the U.S. Army, 1918-1919.

The Stanley G. Fontanna scrapbook documents his student experience at the University of Michigan in 1913-1917 as well as his military service, 1917-1918. The scrapbook consists primarily of photographs with a few clippings, event programs, and ephemera. It includes photographs of University of Michigan football players and track and field atheles (including Fontanna and Clarence Ufer), photos of the Forestry Club and forestry camps, and fraternity and campus social life. There are also photos from Fontanna's military service at Fort Custer, Mich., Allentown, Penn., and Officer Training School at Fort Mead, MdD. Ephemera includes ribbons from track meets, event programs from Phi Sigma Kappa, Les Voyageurs, and other campus organizations; along with military certificates and commissions.

The scrapbook also contains Smith's portrait and his U.S. Army Signal Corps enlistment papers.
