The Advertising series (0.75 linear feet) contains correspondence between Thrupp or managing editor Daphne Grew and various advertising outlets. Early on, CSSH invested in commercial advertising to build awareness among scholars and libraries. They also engaged in exchanging journals, advertisements, and abstracts with other journal publishers as an economical way to grow their community and circulation. CSSH had special interest in a global market that included Russia, India, Australia and Latin America as well as the United States and Europe. This effort at global outreach stemmed directly from Thrupp's desire for a truly comparative and academically rigorous publication.
