Scope and Content:

The collection consists of photographic negatives of aerial views over the University of Michigan Stadium during the Michigan-Michigan State University football game on October 5, 1940. Also includes other views of the University of Michigan campus on that same date.

Biographical / Historical:

The Abrams Aerial Survey Corporation was founded in Lansing, Mich. in 1923 by Talbert Abrams, who served as company president 1923-1958. Abrams was an aviator, World War I veteran, and one of the earliest practitioners in the fields of aerial photography and photogrammetry. The Abrams Aerial Survey Corporation was complemented by two other companies that Abrams created in the 1930s — the Abrams Instrument Corporation and Abrams Aircraft Corporation. The Abrams Instrument Corporation focused heavily on the research, while the Abrams Aircraft Corporation concentrated on development of aerial photographing technologies and planes.
