Committee and task force reports, correspondence, pamphlets, and clippings largely concerning the responses of local churches to problems of poverty, hunger, child care, and other social questions.

The record group includes administrative and organizational files, including minutes of the executive committee, and topical files describing some of the programs funded by the organization. Within the files, the researcher will find reports, memoranda, printed material, and records of the needs task forces set up by the Council. The records date primarily from 1970 to 1981 with some funding files from the 1990s up to 2007/2008.

Ann Arbor, Michigan based non-profit charitable corporation established to provide low-cost health services to low-income individuals and families. The records document the administration and to a lesser degree, the activities of the Summit Medical Center corporation and its clinics. Photographs include portraits of founder, Edward Pierce, and other staff physicians; and photographs of building, staff, and patients.

The records of the Summit Medical Center are arranged alphabetically by topic. The records contain information pertaining to years as early as 1969, and as late as 2003. The bulk of the records were produced between 1970 and 1985, inclusive. The records document the administration and to a lesser degree, the activities of the Summit Medical Center corporation and its clinics. The administration of the Packard Community Clinic as an independent corporation (from 1979-2003) is also documented in a separate file titled Packard Community Clinic. Some of the records also document the relationships between SMC and the major insurance companies, the Johnson Foundation, the Model Cities Program, the Washtenaw County Word of God Community, and John Williams, DDS. Records in the group were produced by Marcia Barrabee, Peter Darrow, Janet Klaver, Edward Pierce, Melvin Pierce, and Jerry Walden, among others.

Papers, 1970-1976, of the Women's Advocate of the University of Michigan, office created to meet the personal and legal needs of women at the University of Michigan. Contain reference and topical files concerning women's issues, especially abortion, childcare, health care, legal problems, affirmative action, and equal rights.

A large part of the collection consists of reference files of articles related to women's issues. Topical files include materials on career planning, the Center for Continuing Education of Women, the Women's Media Center, and childcare programs and other projects for women at the university. Annual reports, evaluations and various committee reports related to the work of the Women's Advocate Office are also included.
