The Andrew F. Wilson papers document the activities of Citizens for Michigan and its grass-roots lobbying activities in support of a constitutional convention. The papers also include materials on George Romney from Wilson's files. The papers span the years of 1954-1962, however the bulk of the material is from 1959-1962. The Kleiner papers consist of approximately 15.5 feet of materials covering the years of 1949 to 1982. The records have been retained in the order maintained by the organization and consist of 5 series: Administrative, Grants and Proposals, Litigation, Topical, and Great Lakes and Water Resources Planning Commission. The collection documents the founding of EMEAC, its development and operation as an important grass-roots organization, as well as a variety of environmental issues affecting southeast Michigan.

Michigan Citizens Against Toxic Substances (MCATS) was a grassroots environmental organization that was formed in response to a proposed hazardous waste disposal facility in Augusta Township, Michigan. MCATS raised awareness in the surrounding communities about the dangers against such a facility, through technical research, meetings, press releases and various other activities. The records reflect MCATS’ active opposition against the proposed hazardous waste facility.

The records of Michigan Citizens Against Toxic Substances relate to its activities as a grassroots environmental organization. The material documents their active opposition to the proposed hazardous waste disposal facility on top of the Arkona Road Landfill. The bulk of the record group dates from the creation of MCATS in 1989 to 1998 when plans for the facility were withdrawn.

Citizen action group formed in 1964-1965 by Mrs. Virginia Denham to oppose the flooding of the Mill Creek area in Lima Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan, to improve sewage treatment for communities downstream on the Huron River. The organization also opposed creation of a Mill Creek Metropark by the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority an developed the South Lima Township Historical District plan. Records of Taxpayers United Federation (and the two organizations from which it was formed, Taxpayers Federation of Michigan, and Taxpayers United for Tax Limitation), both organizations concerned with state tax limitation ballot proposals. Board of Director's and president's files, correspondence, clippings, photographs, videotapes, newsletters and other organizational records; contain material concerning ballot drives in 1976, 1978, and 1980.

The Taxpayers United Federation Records are comprised of three series: Taxpayers Federation of Michigan; Taxpayers United for Tax Limitation; and Taxpayers United Federation. Each series is arranged first chronologically by year, then alphabetically by topic. While correspondence in each series is in chronological order by month, the researcher is advised that, whenever possible, correspondence has been left with appropriate topical files.
