Democratic Party
The Democratic Party series has been arranged by level of activity: Grand Rapids, Kent County, Fifth Congressional District, State, and National. At the city level there is an undated report on municipal government. County level papers (1969-1979), arranged chronologically, consist of correspondence, minutes of the Kent County Democratic Committee and Executive Committee, and county convention materials. District level papers (1968-1976) consist of chronologically arranged folders containing correspondence, notes on committee meetings, and materials relating to fund raising dinners. There are also papers relating to delegate selection for national conventions (1976-1980) and election analyses by George Weaver (1973-1974).
For the state level, there are chronological files of correspondence and minutes for the State Central Committee (1965-1981), and papers relating to state conventions (1968-1979). Additionally, there are topical files relating to apportionment, con-con, the Rules and Political Reform Committee, judicial nominations, a party think tank, and a 1978 White House briefing for the Democratic State Party leadership. National Convention files (1964-1980) contain correspondence, caucus minutes, and papers relating to the Michigan Delegation.
