Winchell was not a great mapmaker, but the collection contains a number of sketch maps made in the course of his work, as well as several maps made by N. H. Winchell for the Michigan Geological Survey. Appendix I to this finding aid lists each map found in the collection. Winchell's published maps are individually cataloged in the MHC map collection.
