Rosters
Although the nature of most series are clear from the title given them, others require explanation. The series labeled Rosters documents Dunham's activities from the 1920s through the 1970s. "Rosters" is the term used by Dunham, and in this series, he placed correspondence, memos, reports, and ephemera. Significantly, from the 1950s to his death, the "Roster" series was almost exclusively correspondence. The researcher should thus note that for this period the roster files are a more complete series of correspondence than the Correspondence series itself. The Rosters series is made up of a chronologically arranged subseries as well as separate subseries of "Rosters" relating to various posts Dunham held as visiting professor.
Correspondence
The Correspondence series, as noted, should be used with the Rosters series for Dunham correspondence. The series includes a chronological subseries dated 1915 to 1980 and two alphabetical subseries dated 1958 to 1978.
