Leadership, 1958-1998

Online

The Leadership series sheds light on some of the history and activities of Beth Israel's most prominent leaders from 1958 to 1998. This includes various correspondence to and from Rabbi's Julius Weinberg (1952-1961), Harold S. White (1962-1968), Mervin B. Tomsky (1969-1970), and Allan D. Kensky (1971-1988). The series also includes installation and service anniversary notices, of the congregation's current Rabbi, Robert Dobrusin (1988- ) and a digitized 1997 video recording of the congregation's first woman president, Gerda seligson (1971-1973), receiving the Jewish Theological Seminary's Second Century award. However, the majority of the records in this series were created by Rabbi Kensky and include his installation ceremony remarks, addresses, messages, sermons, and among other writings, his letter of resignation. The series also contains photo albums highlighting the tenth anniversaries of Rabbi's Kensky and Dobrusin.
