Associate Deans' Files

The Associate Deans' Files subseries contains six sub-subseries, five of which organize the material by the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education who was in office during the time the records were created. Material pre-dating the creation of this office is under the sub subseries "Topical." They are arranged chronologically within the sub sub series. These records reflect the ongoing relationship with the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology, Inc., provide a thorough survey of alumni and students, expand on reports and new programs, and contain a generous amount of budgeting information. They also show the changes occurring in the school as it began to prepare itself for the turn of the century, particularly in regard to programming for new and technically driven student groups. Michael G. Parsons, a professor of naval architecture and marine engineering, served as the dean between the years 1991-1993, and was reappointed from 1994-1996. He was followed by J. Wayne Jones, a professor of materials and metallurgical engineering, who served a five-year term from 1996-2001. The title then passed to Levi T. Thompson, Jr., who held the position from 2001-2005. 2005-2006 saw the appointment of Gary D. Herrin as the interim associate dean until James Holloway took the position more permanently from 2007-2013. Holloway was followed by Brian D. Noble, who started serving as dean in 2013.
