The Merit Network series (1 linear ft., 1978-1989) includes eight folders of board of director and director advisory committee correspondence, minutes and agendas for 1979 to 1989; NSF (National Science Foundation) proposals, correspondence and background for 1986-1988; and miscellaneous organizational files. Researchers will find more extensive material about Michigan's Merit network, its management and re-engineering of the NSFNET backbone service (a collaboration with IBM and MCI) and further description of the evolution of the Internet which it helped pioneer, in the Information Technology Division (ITD) record group.
