Topical Files
The Topical Files series (1908-2002, approximately 2.5 linear feet) includes correspondence, publications, and photographs. This series has a strong focus on Randall's professional activities outside of the press, particularly his early career with the United States Postal Service, and also focuses on his personal interests. Conferences and Events, as well as Organizations, serve as indications of Randall's continued involvement with the black and African American community and the promotion of poetry and the arts in Detroit. Included in correspondence are Randall's letters to multiple congressmen in regard to the local postal service union and possible programming opportunities, as well as his early business ventures with universities and libraries. Grants overlap in topic with the Broadside Press series, and showcase possible funding opportunities for both Randall and the Broadside Press. Photographs and photo albums contain subjects that overlap with other series in the collection, and range from personal family photos to photos of poets and events.
