The Writings series contains some of the books and articles that Stein has written, along with related correspondence and research materials. Two books of note Czecho/Slovakia: Ethnic Conflict, Constitutional Fissure, Negotiated Breakup and Thoughts from a Bridge: A Retrospective of Writings on New Europe and American Federalism are heavily documented here, as they are cumulative works of Eric Stein's complete career. Also included here are copies of book reviews written by Stein as well as reviews of Stein's works.

The series contains a large number of transcriptions of Stein's speeches and lectures. These materials cover Stein's entire career and include presentations at conferences and to his colleagues at the University of Michigan Law School.
