Life Sciences Initiative
The series Life Sciences Initiatives, (0.75 linear feet), 1998-2001, details the university's commitment to, and development of programs, facilities, and faculty to promote research in the life sciences. The Life Sciences Initiatives represents a campus-wide initiative designed to bring together research in genomics and biological sciences. Included is the 1999 Report of the President's Commission on the Life Sciences and related background material. Also included are minutes and records of planning committees, commissions, and boards as well as proposals, information on funding, and efforts to develop a life sciences corridor with other Michigan universities and corporations. Records relating to the directorship of the Life Sciences Institute are also present along with planning for the new physical facilities to house life science research and administration. Information about the Life Sciences Initiative is also in the Central Files of the 2001 and 2004 acquisitions.
