Donald Gillis
Donald Gillis, 1954-1962, contains personal background information and correspondence, including on his activities as a composer, but the great bulk concerns his administrative duties at Interlochen, 1958-1962. Much of the latter pertains to his leadership of the American Opera Theatre and publication of the Catalogue of American Operas. Included are correspondence, planning and promotional materials, and reports. The subject files detail his other activities at Interlochen. Researchers should also consult the Subject series for his role in planning the Academy as well as Interlochen: "Broadcasting," "Fund raising," "Interlochen Press," and the "Petrillo controversy." His later views on the institution, 1973-1977, can be found in the "Personal" section of Roger Jacobi in this subseries (F).
