Printed, (majority within 1928-1989)
The Printed series, 1927-1996, is divided into Interlochen Publications and Published Articles. Both offer good coverage of the Camp and the Academy from their beginnings through the Jacobi presidency (1989) and in some cases beyond. Researchers will find Subject Interlochen"Publicity/Promotion" useful for background information.
Interlochen publications
Interlochen Publications, covering mainly 1928-1988, contains sections on (1) the Camp, (2) Interlochen, and (3) the Academy. The Camp (1) features its concert programs (called The Scherzo until 1938) which are complete from 1928 through 1988 (the mimeographed sheets used in 1942 being photocopies). Other major Camp items include announcements for the Allstate and University Divisions and student publications. Interlochen (2) contains informational and promotional materials covering both the Camp and Academy. The Prelude (1938-1989) and posters (mainly 1941-1989) originally dealt only with the Camp but later incorporated the Academy. More recent works combining both include the Crescendo (1964-1993), a newsletter for Interlochen alumni and friends. Academy materials (3) encompass catalogues (1961-1984), student publications (1967-1971), and programs covering performances (1962-1988), commencements (1963-1989), and festivals (mainly 1977-1982).
Researchers will also find Interlochen publications located elsewhere in the collection. Chronological Camp History contains histories. Subject Interlochen includes promotional materials on "Fund-raising," "Interlochen Press," and "Special Events" while Subject Camp contains items on the Interlochen List and Library Catalogue as well as some programs.
