The Ron Thayer subseries forms the last three linear feet of the Chief of Staff/Executive Assistants series. It consists of records which document Thayer's fund-raising activities, the events/projects and political materials, and materials dealing with his service on the Lottery Task Force. The events/projects materials are arranged alphabetically by event, project, or name and consist of correspondence, memoranda, and budgets related to the particular event. Of special note here are the materials related to the 1987 National Governors' Association meeting in Traverse City. Michigan, as host state, relied heavily on Thayer to see to local arrangements, entertainment, planning, and program of this event; this was Thayer's one project for the early Summer 1987. The political fund-raising materials are arranged chronologically so that the researcher may conveniently examine each campaign. These materials are quite similar in nature and scope to the events/projects files. The Lottery Task Force materials are of a very different nature as they document Thayer's chairing of this group's investigation into allegations of impropriety in the Lottery Commission.
