Legislation, 1983-1990
The legislation subseries is the largest such unit in the Blanchard collection, totally just over forty-three linear feet of enrolled house and senate bills, bill analyses, roll calls, and related materials. These bills are arranged chronologically according to legislative session; within each legislature they are broken out by house of origin (house or senate); finally they are arranged by bill number, which is assigned sequentially within the session and house. This ultimately results in a specific chronological order for each enrolled bill. The bills are often accompanied by supporting documentation, but this varies is degree and type from bill to bill. Unfortunately for the researcher, there exists no readily available subject access to these enrolled bills; one must know the legislature, the house, and the bill number to use this subseries with dispatch.
