The Biographical series includes Mack's biography, images from Mack's time as a college student and as a basketball coach with the Castle Valley Job Corps in Price, UT; Mack's resumes, newspaper articles and press releases, and materials from a 1976 testimonial put on in Mack's honor by the members of the Region One Board. The latter also includes photographs and an audiocassette recording of the event. Of particular note is a digitized conglomeration of news clips and television interviews pertaining to Mack and his tenure with the Board.

Papers of Josh Mack, an African American education specialist, civic leader, and former Detroit Board of Education member. The collection includes biographical materials, articles and press releases, correspondence (including some from former Michigan politicians), curriculum guidelines from the Wayne County Attention Centers, a small amount of photographs, an audio recording of a Testimonial event, a digital file comprising of several television interviews and news clips, and other collected materials pertaining to Mack's professional career and civic duties.

The collection primarily focuses on Mack's tenure as an education specialist, Detroit Board of Education member, and as a civic leader, particularly in Detroit's North End neighborhood.

Records include biographical materials, articles and press releases about Mack's professional career and civic activities, correspondence, writings, curriculum materials --primarily from Mack's tenure as an administrative coordinator with the Wayne County Attention Centers,--and collected items pertaining to Mack's professional activities and his interest in education, job training, and counseling services for minorities. Also included several digital news clips and interviews.

Professional Activities, 1960-2019, undated

The Professional Activities series documents Mack's professional and civic endeavors, and his interest in education, job training, and counseling services for minorities. Records include collected publications and programs, essays (some written by Mack's family members), and curriculum materials from the Wayne County Attention Centers where Mack served as an Administrative Coordinator.

Of particular note is correspondence from notable Michigan leaders and institutions: governors William Milliken, Jim Blanchard, and John Engler, state Senator Carl Levin, Congressman John Conyers, Detroit Mayor Coleman A. Young, among other state and Detroit city officials. Also included is correspondence from the Area Manpower Institute for the Development of Staff, the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the KOOL Achiever Awards program, the Comprehensive Youth Training and Community Involvement Programs Advisory Board (via New Detroit, Inc.), and the National Center for Careers in Public Life. Mack's correspondence pertains mostly to such topics as land use and zoning laws for industrial or commercial purposes, Proposition A and the 1973 millage, House Bill 5743 (ca. 1976) regarding the revised school code, job training programs, the 50/50 Education Partnership school finance plan, letters of recommendation on Mack's behalf, congratulatory letters regarding his elections to the Detroit School Board, letters thanking him for his services, and other noteworthy correspondence pertaining to accolades he has received.
