Much of the correspondence in this collection emanates from Frank E. Robbins, who served as Executive Secretary of the I.A.R. for many years, and from Arthur E. R. Boak, a member of the Committee from its inception. For the most part, topics cover the excavations in Karanis, Dimé, and Seleucia. Other correspondence covers publication of discoveries made on these expeditions, such as the letters from Donald Harden to Orma Butler and "Pete" [Enoch Peterson].
There are reports, accounts, and budgets; in addition papers filed under "Near East Research" cover the formation and early days of the Committee and illustrate Francis Kelsey's search for papyri. One section contains I.A.R. minutes, although copies of minutes are scattered in other I.A.R. files as well. The collection also includes several photographs and maps.
