Family papers are arranged chronologically. This series includes some of the earliest of papers in the collection because of Vander Velde's accumulation of letters of family members.

Personal Correspondence is a series of exchanges between Vander Velde and various family members and friends.

Miscellaneous includes photographs and such other items as notebooks, an appointment book, and some notes taken on lectures given by Claude Van Tyne.
