The Bird Hills/Twining Property Controversy series consists of a few items in one folder documenting this 1989/90 development controversy.

The Barritt's history of ownership and lease-holding within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore makes up the bulk of this collection. From 1967 through 1983, the documents include correspondence, legal documents, and government documents related to land acquisition and lease-holding within Sleeping Bear involving the Barritt's property. Beginning in 1994, the papers document the activities of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Extended Occupancy Rights group for which Marjorie and Loren served on the demographics committee and was informally a part of the "executive committee".
