The Dissertation series includes materials relating to Abraham's dissertation completed at the University of Michigan and entitled "National and Local Politics: A Study of Political Conflict in the Yemeni Immigrant Community of Detroit, Michigan." It primarily examines the impact of political developments in Yemen on politics in the Yemeni immigrant community in Detroit, particularly the differences between those of northern and southern origin. In addition to a copy of the dissertation itself are materials including newspapers, newsletters, and other publications, many of them in Arabic and produced by Yemeni organizations, as well as Abraham's field notes, which contain notes from interviews conducted with members of the Yemeni community in Detroit.
