The William C. Kelley (Interim Term) Series includes materials from Kelley's tenure as the Interim Vice President for Research. The bulk of the materials are from 1989-1990, although some materials date from the 1950s through the 1980s. [There is also a set of photocopied documents generated by the 1986 DRDA Review which date from 1911 (Box 105, folder "1986 DRDA Review - Documents, 1911-1986).] There are three sub-series within the overall series. The Central Files (1.7 feet) are arranged alphabetically and cover largely the year 1990. Topics include relations with the College of Engineering and the School of Nursing, and government agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The Committees Files (1.1 feet) contain materials related to Committees that report to the OVPR. Also arranged alphabetically, these files are primarily administrative in nature, consisting mainly of committee rosters and charges. A notable exception in this sub-series is the material of the Radiation Policy Committee (Box 104). The records of this committee are both more extensive and more informative than others in the sub-series. The final sub-series, the Review Files (1.7 feet), contains material pertaining to reviews of several divisions that report to OVPR (DRDA, ISR, Macromolecular Science and Engineering, and the Michigan Memorial Phoenix Project). In addition, there is 0.5 linear feet of material from the Research Policies Committee which contains correspondence, reports, and meeting minutes.
