Personal Papers
The four folders in the Personal Papers sub-subseries were maintained separately by Shapiro, and include biographical materials, a draft of a speech entitled "The Importance of Humanities," and a particularly interesting essay on racism, written by the president in 1986. Shapiro sent the essay to presidents of other major research universities around the country, and their written reactions to it are included.
Reports and Reviews
The Reports sub-subseries, 1958-1987 (2 linear feet), is arranged alphabetically by originating unit or organization and consists of both university and non-university reports on a variety of interesting topics, including student recruitment, the status of the Flint and Dearborn campuses, and financial aid.
