The Correspondence sub-subseries includes two files: Overberger, Charles G., and Personal. The Overberger file consists of documents discussing negotiations with Overberger after he received an offer from Texas A&M University, and letters from faculty critiquing Overberger's performance as Vice-President for Research. The Personal files includes materials on the various positions held by Shapiro while working for the University of Michigan, and includes correspondence between Shapiro and University administration.

The Student Code sub-subseries contains correspondence and planning documents for a student code of nonacademic conduct and new university judicial system for disciplining student misconduct. This sub sub-series also documents the widespread campus opposition to the code.

The Engagements sub-subseries consists of materials from the inauguration of President Duderstadt, including inaugural greetings from other institutions.
