An updated version of Howard Peckham's 1967 book was published in 1994, upon the recommendation of the university's History and Traditions Committee. However, the 1994 edition contained numerous factual errors and misprints; Pauline Walters of the President's Office edited a second, corrected version of the 1994 edition. The Revisions of The Making of the University of Michigan, 1817-1992 sub-subseries contains her notes, printouts of electronic mail correspondence, and revised page proofs.

The Reference Files sub-subseries, 1986-1991 (1 linear foot), consists of policy statements, articles, and reports relating to topics central to the priorities of Duderstadt's administration, including diversity and strategic planning.
