The Development series documents efforts to attract, report, and acknowledge gifts to the university. The largest portion of the series consists of gift letters expressing appreciation to donors who contributed to the university. These letters extend from the Duderstadt era through the Coleman era. Additionally, there are letters inviting prospective donors to events, letters from donors interested in giving gifts, funding proposals, and financial reports on gifts. There are also materials compiled for President Coleman's use during the Michigan Difference seminars in Florida, where she traveled to West Palm Beach and Naples to give presentations on future plans at the university and meet with donors. They include Coleman's itinerary, talking points, and information on area donors and potential donors.
