The W. J. Bryan Hicks series consists of three subseries: Personal Papers, World War I Service, and U.S. Cavalry History. The first subseries contains Hicks' high school commencement program and post-WWI military ephemera. The second subseries contains government documents and correspondence, photographs, ephemera, and extensive family correspondence, all pertaining to Hicks' service in the 17th Cavalry during the First World War. The third subseries contains articles and other research materials pertaining to the history of the U.S. Cavalry and materials from various cavalry museums.
