A non-profit organization formed in 1992 by Julia T. Richie. The Foundation was created to empower children and young adults through the implementation, support, resources, and opportunities in employment, education, and enrichment. The record group includes administrative records, records pertaining to the organization's affiliates and partnerships with Detroit Metropolitan area charter and college preparatory schools, material relating to events and programs, as well as publications and photographs.

The records of The YES Foundation® document the organizational structure, affiliations, and programs of the Foundation between 1992 and 2017. The collection is comprised of administrative files, Board of Directors records, program evaluations, marketing material, year-end financial reports, grant applications, employee and volunteer meeting material, employee reference guides, materials related to various events and programs, tribute videos, student profiles, and educational course outlines and evaluations. Records include photographs and video recordings of ceremonies.

The Programs series (1.75 linear feet, 38.5 GB) comprises of digital images, videos, and data files, as well as summaries, surveys, and other analog materials pertaining to the Buddy Program, its subsidiary the Buddy Study program, career planning initiatives, KinderCamp, Story Readers', YES for PREP program, and the Collaborative for Academic Proficiency (CAP) program. Other programs highlighted within this series pertain to the Great Books Program (at Mark Twain Elementary School), the Pontiac Parent Volunteers Literacy Program, Northwest Activity Center images, among others.

The YES for PREP sub-series (1.45 linear feet, 21.5 GB) comprises of materials about the history and mission of YES for PREP, its affiliates and partnerships including Marygrove College, Ferris State and The Skillman Foundation. This sub-series also includes YES for PREP school survey summaries, evaluations, proposals, handbooks, guides, course curriculum, syllabi, course outlines, expected course outcomes, and resources. Also included here a Prep for Prep overview (foundation in which YES for PREP is modeled after), student (cohort) profiles, digital images and videos pertaining to graduations, college tours, and parent and student interviews as well as a host of unidentifiable images.
