The Biographical Information series consists of one folder, which contains documentation pertaining to Horvath's Naval Ordnance Development Award and his Presidential Certificate of Merit. It also includes a single photograph of Horvath.
Letters contained in the Correspondence series largely represent communication between Horvath and his colleagues, academic peers, and organizations of which he was a member, throughout his professional life. It is the largest series in the collection, spanning a period between 1948 and 1979. Early material includes correspondence between Dr. Horvath and the U.S. government, particularly members of the Allied Forces (post-WWII), the Department of Defense, the Navy, and the Air Force. Also included are invitations to and communications between various honor societies, including the Philosophical Society of Washington and the Cosmos Club.
The rest of the Correspondence series is largely comprised of papers containing discussions of research with colleagues, various personal letters to and from friends, conversations regarding the exchange of ideas, various requests for reprints of Dr. Horvath's papers, and requests for book and article reviews. Correspondents include James Gavin, Mervill Flood and Philip Morse.
The Operations Research series consists of notes, reviews of various manuscripts and papers, and correspondence between Horvath and fellow members of the Operational Research Society of America. These papers date from 1961 to 1968.
The documents constituting the Operations Research Group series include press releases and articles from 1945 regarding the activities of the Operations Research Group, of which Horvath was a member. The series also contains a biographical sketch of Horvath from 1946.
The Operations Research Society series consists of administrative reports, correspondence between members, and organizational information. The papers date from 1954 to 1962.
Documents contained in the Publication and Speeches series consist largely of articles and papers appearing in various scientific magazines and journals. A prolific writer, Horvath authored or co-authored many pieces in publications such as The Physical Review, Behavioral Science, and Management Science. The series also includes a set of book reviews from 1957 to 1982, as well as several papers on children's health beliefs from 1980, research reports from MHRI, speeches given at conferences, and other non-attributed articles. The series dates from 1952 to 1982.
The Research series contains three main studies conducted by Dr. Horvath: "Resisting Pressure to Smoke", 1982-1984; WCHS Data, 1982; and Word Associations, 1959-1963.
