The Topical Files (0.5 linear feet and 395.15 MB) series includes material related to the history of the department and the family practice centers operated by the department. The records of the department's history include newspaper articles as well as programs and speeches from anniversary celebrations. The majority of the family practice center papers are from the center in Chelsea and cover the decision to establish the center in the 1970s and the expansion of the facility in 1995. Also included are materials related to chairs of the department, including Dr. Terence Davies and Dr. Philip Zazove.

The Administration series contains records of the meeting minutes of the Executive Committee from 2008 to 2013 and Faculty Meetings, 1962-2013. These records include digital copies, as well as the original paper copies for older minutes. Because of occasional discussions relating to personnel matters, the minutes are governed by a personnel records restriction.

The 2014-2018 Accessions (2.75 linear feet)(46.77 MBs) comprises of Division Files, Chairperson's Files, Financial Files, Photographs, and Topical Files. These files document the development and changes within five of the divisions of the Department of Internal Medicine; the professional activities and influence of the department chairs, co-chairs, deans and other leaders; provide data pertaining to improving the operating procedures and efficiency of the department; document the department's relationship with other departments, university centers, and external entities and programs; and provide a visual history of the departments faculty and staff from 1954 to 2011.

The Photographs subseries (0.375 linear feet), arranged chronologically, contains Department of Internal Medicine annual group faculty and staff photographs. Also included are photographs from an unnamed event held in the Kelley Conference room as well as Included within this subseries are negatives and proofs.
The Photographs series consists of prints and some negatives of women involved in athletics and other physical activities, including dance, often taking place in Barbour Gymnasium or at Palmer Field. The bulk of the photos are from the 1910-1935 period. There are also photographs of social events sponsored by the Department of Physical Education for Women and the Women's Athletic Association, including Lantern Night, and Freshman Week as well as photos of Barbour Gymnasium, Women's Athletic Building, the Health Service, and the Michigan League.

The Administrative Committees series (3 linear feet, 437 KB (online); 1960-1998 and 2006) includes materials created by the department-wide, policy-making bodies. This is mostly material from the Executive Committee and Staff Meetings although there is also some minimal information created by the Ad Hoc Committee on Departmental Structure and Function, the Committee on Undergraduate Studies, and the Committee on Graduate Studies.
The Administrative Committees series deals mostly with everyday activities and issues of curriculum, policy, and research as well as faculty and student enrollment, placement, funding, and graduation. The Executive Committee meeting minutes are excellent in that they run from 1960 to 1998 with few chronological gaps. All of the records are organized into two sub-series, 1960-1989 and 1983-1998, 2006; and arranged chronologically under the title of the committee.

Visual Materials (undated-2004, 0.1 linear feet,) is a small series arranged alphabetically containing visual materials separated from the analog files. This includes the" Through My Lens" VHS from the Women of Color in the Academy Project, and photographs from the Jewish Women Writing Feminism lecture.

The Visual Materials series (1906-1984, 10 linear feet, 33.4 GB) has been divided into two subseries, Negatives and Photographic Prints.
The Negatives subseries (1906-1984, 9.75 linear feet) contains glass plate and film negatives as well as positive glass transparencies. These materials have been arranged further within the Negatives subseries by format, Glass Plate and Film. These materials range in size from 4 x 5 inches to 11 x 14 inches and are arranged alphabetically by folder headings, which were maintained from their original folders. Film negatives, 1922-1984 (2.75 linear feet) range in size from 4 x 5 inches to 8 x 10 inches and are comprised of both acetate and nitrate film. Content of the film negatives includes images of classroom scenes, crowds in the streets after a Joe Louis victory, a civil rights picket line outside of Woolworth's, and WWJ entertainers in costume. Glass negatives, 1906-1936 (7 linear feet) range in size from 4 x 5 inches to 11 x 14 inches. Content of the glass negatives is less varied than that of the film negatives and includes large runs of images depicting interior and exterior views of the Detroit News building and the previous News building on Shelby Street and Larned Street in downtown Detroit, as well as of the WWJ radio station building. Some of the smaller glass negatives include more editorial content such as images of the annual spelling bee and the Detroit News 50th Anniversary hosted at the Scripps family farm.
