Photographs, 1918-1919

The Photographs series includes digitized versions of photographs taken by the American Red Cross during the American intervention in North Russia. Subject matter includes American soldiers in formation, at barracks, on guard, and at ease playing hockey and other pursuits in addition to images of Russian churches, shipyard, bathhouses, and village scenes. Accompanying index provides original captions and handwritten notes on the backs of original photographs. These photographs represent a portion of a larger series of images created by the American Red Cross.

The archives of the Pioneer Band Association document the history of the bands of Ann Arbor High School. Although Ann Arbor at this writing in 2012 has three high schools, these files primarily concern the Pioneer High School Band. The materials have been arranged into the following series: Class Files, People Files, Subject Files, Band Notes and related material, Visual Materials, Sound Recordings, Digital Materials, and Miscellaneous. Even though the records date from 1912, the bulk of the collection dates from the late 1960s. Much of the earlier material is copied from yearbooks and various archival resources. The People series includes research notes about different band members and notes from interviews with individuals who participated with the band in some capacity.

The Pittsfield Township (Washtenaw County, Mich.) records contain school district records for districts 1 through 8 and 8 fractional from 1860-1930, with occasional records dating back to 1830. The collection also contains a wide range of types of township records dealing with assessments, elections, finance, and legal activities, dating from 1832 to 1980. Township Board proceedings (1834-1965, with some gaps) and road records (1835-1887) are also available in digitized versions.

The collection consists of the following series: Pittsfield School Districts records, Miscellaneous Township Responsibilities, Township Administration, Treasurer's records, Assessment Rolls, Tax Rolls, Rolls of Lands Upon Which Taxes Were Unpaid, and Other Assessments.

The collection contains photographs from unknown sources and includes scenes of the burial of the bodies returned in 1929 and memorial services at the Polar Bear Memorial at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery.

The Polish American files include items collected by Binkowski on Polish American organizations, Polonia and the Polish American community in Detroit, Polish politicians in Michigan, and notable members of the Polish community including Stanislaw Rys. Of note is a file on Ted Kaczynski, known as the "Unabomber," containing correspondence between Binkowski and Kaczynski. The series also includes collections on Polish churches in Detroit. Digital content includes a video for Stanislaw Rys's celebration of life service. Additional material on Polish politicians can be found in the Politics series.

Politics and Campaigns, 1955-2012

The Politics and Campaigns series is organized into four subseries: Campaigns and Elections, State and National Democratic Party Materials, Press, and Redistricting.

Materials are organized chronologically and documents John Dingell, Jr.'s 29 national political campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives and his work related to the state and national Democratic Party. Campaign files include correspondence, constituent research, candidate research, certificates of election, news clippings, press releases, financial records, questionnaires, speeches, photographs, and Dingell's YouTube channel videos.

Materials documenting Dingell's involvement with the Democratic National Committee and Michigan Democratic Party include meeting materials, party platforms, committee assignments, party organizational documents, and news article. Redistricting materials include court proceedings, hearing materials, legal and strategic plans, background research, delegation meetings, news clippings, and correspondence.
