The Pierson Family papers cover the period between 1821 and 1996. Prominent members of the family include lawyer and politician Job Pierson (1791-1860) who served in Congress as a representative of New York from 1831 to 1835, and his son Reverend Job Pierson of Michigan. The collection is composed primarily of family correspondence, legal papers, genealogical research, newspaper clippings, printed materials, and visual materials, which include photographs, ambrotypes and daguerreotypes, tintypes, and ink drawings. The collection also contains materials documenting Clara Dillingham Pierson’s writing career as a children’s book author.

The collection has been arranged into four principal series: Family Groups, Clara E. D. Pierson (1868-1952) Papers, Visual Materials, and Other Materials.

The Chi chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda, a national music honor society, was established in 1945 at the University of Michigan. The collection spans from 1931-1980 but primarily contains documentation from 1950-1980.

The Pi Kappa Lambda collection contains records documenting the biennial conventions at which adding the School of Music in Ann Arbor was discussed, and meetings following the induction of the Chi chapter at which a representative of the chapter was present. General information on the history of the national organization is briefly included. Also included are lists of the bylaws and initiation rituals that the chapter implemented. Documentation of students who transferred to or from the Chi chapter are included, as well as lists of honorary members, new members inducted into the organization, and copies of the program for the Honors Assembly at which new members were recognized. Between the member lists and the programs for the Honors Assembly, the only year for which there is no documentation of new members is 1976. The collection also contains financial reports, meeting minutes of the Chi chapter, lists of officers and faculty members, lists of events sponsored by the organization, and information on the scholarships that the Chi chapter awarded. Scattered years of the national newsletter printed by the organization are included, which are from years when a member of the Chi chapter served as a national officer, a specific member of the organization was mentioned, or newsletters contained lists of the officers for all the chapters. The correspondences are primarily to and from the chapter president and the chapter secretary, though there are also some letters from members. The collection also contains one of the keys, in pin form, awarded to members of the society. This particular pin was intended to be passed down through each of the presidents of the Chi chapter.

The record group is arranged into a single series of materials that include membership books, scattered minutes, newsletters and printed materials, photographs, and clippings and scrapbooks detailing chapter activities.

The archives of the Pioneer Band Association document the history of the bands of Ann Arbor High School. Although Ann Arbor at this writing in 2012 has three high schools, these files primarily concern the Pioneer High School Band. The materials have been arranged into the following series: Class Files, People Files, Subject Files, Band Notes and related material, Visual Materials, Sound Recordings, Digital Materials, and Miscellaneous. Even though the records date from 1912, the bulk of the collection dates from the late 1960s. Much of the earlier material is copied from yearbooks and various archival resources. The People series includes research notes about different band members and notes from interviews with individuals who participated with the band in some capacity.

The Pittsfield Township (Washtenaw County, Mich.) records contain school district records for districts 1 through 8 and 8 fractional from 1860-1930, with occasional records dating back to 1830. The collection also contains a wide range of types of township records dealing with assessments, elections, finance, and legal activities, dating from 1832 to 1980. Township Board proceedings (1834-1965, with some gaps) and road records (1835-1887) are also available in digitized versions.

The collection consists of the following series: Pittsfield School Districts records, Miscellaneous Township Responsibilities, Township Administration, Treasurer's records, Assessment Rolls, Tax Rolls, Rolls of Lands Upon Which Taxes Were Unpaid, and Other Assessments.

Detroit, Michigan chapter of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, founded in 1932 as the Detroit Chapter of the Michigan Birth Control League. Minutes, correspondence, reports, surveys, newsletters, and printed material document the efforts of the Planned Parenthood League to provide birth control information and services to residents of the Detroit area

The minutes, correspondence, reports, surveys, newsletters, and printed material document the efforts of the Planned Parenthood League to provide birth control information and services to residents of the Detroit area and reflect the changing emphasis of the programs over the years. From its almost exclusive concentration on provision of contraceptive clinical services in its early years, Planned Parenthood came to offer such diverse programs as infertility counseling, a vasectomy service, sex education for teenagers and venereal disease detection. Correspondence with pharmaceutical companies in the 1960's and 1970's reflects the participation of Planned Parenthood League in tests of contraceptives, particularly oral contraceptives. Clinic surveys and statistical reports, along with information contained in annual reports (filed for the most part with board of directors minutes) document the medical services provided by the League.

The records of Planned Parenthood of Mid-Michigan document the history of the organization and the family planning services it has provided to Michigan residents. The records are a good source of information on the history of birth control, abortion, sex education, and women’s health issues in the state from the 1930s to the turn of the twenty first century. In addition to the Planned Parenthood of Mid-Michigan files, the collection includes records documenting the Planned Parenthood Association of Southwestern Michigan and Planned Parenthood of Southeast Michigan, dating from the period before these two organizations merged with Planned Parenthood of Mid-Michigan. Materials include board minutes and reports, correspondence, organizational handbooks and policy statements, pamphlets, newsletters, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, photographs, and videotapes.

The Planned Parenthood of Mid-Michigan record group covers the period of time from the founding of the organization in 1935 through 2007. The history of the organization is documented in this collection. Extensive information about the services offered by Planned Parenthood of Mid-Michigan can also be found in this collection. These include medical, counseling, and educational activities.

Minutes of construction meetings, summary financial statements, site and building plans and proposals, blueprints, and visual materials; including files relating to the Detroit Observatory and the Natural Science Building; include undated sketch of North Campus, unsigned, but attributed to Eero Saarinen.

The material is arranged alphabetically, usually by building name. Among the blueprints are files relating to the Detroit Observatory and the Natural Science Building and an undated sketch of North Campus, unsigned, but attributed to Eero Saarinen

These records of the Plaza Land Corporation were accumulated and maintained by Edward R. Grace, secretary and member of the corporation's board of directors. The records, including minutes, memoranda, and correspondence, trace the development of what would become the Hotel Pontchartrain in Detroit. Within the records are files for the Corporation's various officers and directors, investors, and those otherwise closely associated with the project, including Detroit Mayor Albert E. Cobo, Conrad Hilton, Fred. C. Matthaei, H. Lynn Pierson, Douglas Roby, and Oscar Webber among others.
