Task Force created by President Mary Sue Coleman in 2006 to help frame the University of Michigan's response to Proposal 2, a state ballot initiative that banned the use of affirmative action and preferential treatment in hiring and admissions decisions. Includes administrative records of the Task Force and its subcommittees in digital format as well as related online resources created by the university. Prominent records include the final report of the Task Force, interim reports of subcommittees, email correspondence, and archived Websites that promoted Task Force findings and diversity in general at the university.

The Diversity Blueprints Task Force records will be of value to researchers interested in the University of Michigan's efforts to maintain and enhance the diversity of its campus in response to the limits imposed by the 2006 Michigan ballot initiative, Proposal 2, on the use of affirmative action for admissions decisions. The record group is entirely digital and is comprised of research materials related to other states, statistics and analyses of diversity efforts at the University of Michigan, email correspondence, and reports and recommendations made by the task force and its subcommittees. Originally founded in 1970 as the Safety Department, the Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) is the university's public safety and law enforcement unit. The collection consists of digital Clery Act reports from 2006-2020 (with gaps).

This collection contains digital copies of the University of Michigan's Campus Safety Handbook, Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report, and Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. These documents—also known as Clery Act reports—were published between 2006-2020 (with gaps). They include crime statistics in the previous three years, safety tips, and information about various health and safety agencies, laws, policies, programs, regulations, resources, and services. Beginning in 2010, these reports also included fire safety information and statistics.

The records of the Division of Research Development and Administration (1919-1996) encompass the DRDA and all of its predecessor organizations, including the Department of Engineering Research, the Engineering Research Institute, the University of Michigan Research Institute, and the Office of Research Administration. Record types include correspondence, topical subject files, research grant files, meeting minutes, financial records, and photographs.

The records of the Division of Research Development and Administration (1919-1996) encompass both the DRDA and all of its predecessor organizations. The papers have been divided into seven major series: Governing and Oversight Bodies (1919-1964), Staff and Committee Records (ca. 1922-1979), Administrative Files (1922-1972), Correspondence Files (1943-1972), Willow Run Laboratories (1946-1966), Directors' Files, and several boxes of Research Grant Files on microfilm. There are also four smaller series: the Engineering College Research Council (1959-1961), Review of the DRDA - Report to Harold Shapiro, 1980, Engineering Research Institute - miscellaneous research reports, Photographs, and Programmed Research Information System at Michigan (PRISM) Reports.

Records of the professional career and judicial rulings of Donald A. Johnston III, judge on Michigan's 17th Circuit Court and former judge on the state's 61st District Court. Includes summaries of cases brought before Johnston for sentencing in the circuit court, the judge's notes on sentences levied in each case, files related to appellate court proceedings, and correspondence.

The Donald A. Johnston papers document extensively criminal court proceedings in Kent County, particularly between 1989 and 2012. A substantial breadth of materials pertaining to trials brought before Johnston for more than twenty years offer insight into crime rates, criminal law, and the nature of sentences levied against convicted persons in the greater Grand Rapids area. Documents in the Johnston files also follow the progress of trials later referred to appellate courts in Michigan, including both the Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court, as well as sentences with which Johnston disagreed. Finally, Johnston's correspondence captures the interactions of the judge with legal professionals and the public at large.
