Collections

The collection consists of photographic negatives of Governor Blanchard while attending public functions, giving speeches, signing bills, and at various other meetings, receptions, political gatherings, and fund raisers.

Performer and professor of modern dance at the University of Michigan. Collection contains subject files relating to Delanghe's activities as a choreographer, dancer, teacher and department chair. Collection also contains photographs and audiovisual material documenting productions with which Delanghe was involved.

The Gay Delanghe papers document a range of Delanghe's professional activities, with particular focus on choreography, teaching, and performing. The bulk of the records originate from the time of her graduation from the University of Michigan in 1965 through the first twenty years of her tenure in the University of Michigan Dance Department. There are few records from her childhood and college years, or from her late career. The records serve to illuminate her engagements as a dancer, and as a teacher, as well as the processes that went into her choreography and the staging of her work. In addition to this finding aid, a performance list exists which attempts to compile information on all of Delanghe's performances for which documentation exists in the collection. This list is available in Performance and Publicity series and upon request.

The collection is divided into ten series of materials relating to various aspects of the professional and artistic activities of Gay Delanghe. These series are: Biographical Materials, Choreography, Correspondence, Funding and Awards, Notebooks, Photographs, Programs and Publicity, Teaching, University of Michigan Department of Dance, and Audiovisual Materials.

Established in 1976 by the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and the Arts, the Gayle Morris Sweetland Center for Writing (originally the English Composition Board) administers the writing program of the College and provides writing courses and assistance for students of the University from freshman year through graduate school. Collection contains administrative files covering all aspects of the Center's history as well as printed material and publications.

The Gayle Morris Sweetland Center for Writing collection is divided into four series: Administration, Publications and Printed Works, Audiovisual, and English Composition Board Writing Samples.

Scholar and professor of English at University of Michigan. Diaries, manuscripts of dramas and other writings, Shakespearean notes and lecture materials and personal and professional correspondence, including correspondence and other material relating to his service with the British Infantry during World War I.

The collection contain diaries, personal and professional correspondence, articles, lectures, research notes, and literary manuscripts; material relates extensively to Shakespearean, Elizabethan, and Jacobean literary scholarship and the teaching thereof, to Catholicism (including the English liturgy), and to Harrison's service with the British Infantry in India and Mesopotamia (Iraq) during World War I. There is also material relating to feminism, publishing and copyright, rare books, and staging Elizabethan plays. Noteworthy is the extensive and substantive correspondence with Guy Hamilton and Gerald Cullinan, which ranges over literature, scholarship, politics, and personalities in the U.S. and England.

The G.B. Harrison collection is divided into the following series: Diaries; Correspondence; Religious Activities; Addresses and Lectures; Articles, Reviews, and Pamphlets; and Manuscripts of writings.

President of Quarry Drugstore, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Pharmaceutical and soda fountain recipe books, account book of farm owned by Margaret Drake of Allentown, Michigan, and photographs.

The Drake collection consists of manuscripts and photographs largely relating to the Quarry drugstore in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Of interest are photographs of Quarry Drugstore, University of Michigan campus and buildings, a 1908 football game, and the Huron River.

Civil engineer, served as Michigan state highway commissioner, chairman of the Mackinac Straits Bridge Authority and president of Portland Cement Company. Papers primarily document work with highway commission and Mackinac Straits Bridge Authority.

The papers, 1928-1968, of G. Donald Kennedy document his career in civil engineering, his participation in professional organizations, his activities as a state official, and as a supporter of the Michigan Democratic Party. The collection Includes correspondence, speeches, minutes, reports, articles, clippings, and photographs. The files relate to his work as municipal engineer in Pontiac, Michigan, with the Mackinac Straits Bridge Authority, the American Association of State Highway Officials, the Automotive Safety Foundation, and the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority. The collection also includes papers relating to highway and airport construction, to economic mobilization during World War II, the Willow Run Bomber Plant, state Democratic Party matters, particularly the campaign visits of President Roosevelt to Michigan in 1936.

This collection is comprised of papers of John Geddes, an early Washtenaw Country settler. The highlight of the collection is the correspondence between John Geddes and his brother William from the first half of the nineteenth century, large portions of which were transcribed by the donor, Russell E. Bidlack. The collection also contains papers from John Geddes' daughter--Sarah Geddes Randall--and her family, as well as notes and correspondence regarding the collection and secondary source material compiled by Professor Bidlack.

The Geddes and Randall families collection is arranged into four series: Geddes Family, 1771-1889; Randall Family, 1860-1950; Rash Family, 1832-1924; and Historical Material Collected by Russell E. Bidlack. The collection is very much a product of Mr. Bidlack's research and archival processing. Not only does the collection contain copious photocopies, both of materials originally in the collection and of supporting materials, it also includes transcriptions and notes created by Mr. Bidlack. Besides extensive material on the Geddes and Randall families and the history of Washtenaw County, the collection also may be useful for researchers studying Nineteenth century mills and related manufacturing in the midwest. The researcher should note that the library has a second portion of the papers of the Geddes and Randall families which came from a different donor. This collection has been separately cataloged.

The Geddes and Randall Family papers record early life in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area. The papers include financial records of paper and sawmills, pioneer reminiscences, personal photographs, and genealogical materials.

The Geddes and Randall Family Papers are subdivided into two series, one for each family. John Geddes papers include reminiscences of his coming to Michigan and his settlement in Ann Arbor. There are also financial records of the sawmill and a journal of daily happenings, 1845-1889, also containing genealogical information. The Randall family papers include correspondence, financial papers and brief diary entries of William Randall; and photograph albums of Sarah Randall.

The Gene Fogel papers contain sound recordings and transcripts from two news stories Fogel investigated as a news reporter for WJR 760 radio station out of Detroit, "Blind Justice" and "Bite Mark, Leaving the Wrong Impression.". The collection also includes information about Fogel's journalism career.

Reprints of medical journal articles describing medical cases and treatment protocols based upon clinical trials in the University of Michigan General Clinical Research Center.

The Unit Publications series contains printed material published specifically by the General Clinical Research Center. These publications are defined as being widely distributed and may be published at regular intervals. They are arranged by genre of the publication.
