This Galens Medical Society record group documents the activities, goals, and membership of the organization from 1914 to 2011. It reveals the changing purpose and membership of the society, its traditional social functions, and its contributions to the medical school, university hospital, and Washtenaw County groups that benefit children. The record group is arranged in nine series: Minutes, Officers' Records and Reports, Activities and Funds, Histories and Constitutions, Membership, Audio-Visual Material, Funds, Service Activities, and Smoker.

Contains addresses, brochures or pamphlets, bulletins or college catalogs, histories and manuals. Includes the newsletter Medicine at Michigan as well as miscellaneous reports about the Medical School. Also contains publications from the Center for Molecular Genetics, Office of Biomedical Research, Office of Medical Education, Galens Medical Society and the Phi Chi fraternity.

The Medical School Publications are divided into four series: Unit Publications, Sub-Unit Publications, Topical Publications and Student Publications. Some publications (or their successors) may no longer be available in print but are available on the school s website.

Tom Coles, M.D. (born circa 1932) was a medical student at the University of Michigan from 1955-1956. Consists of slides of a banquet and smoker of the Galens, a medical student organization; Band Day at Michigan Stadium; and homecoming displays.
