Records relating to the development of gerontological medicine at the University of Michigan and the founding of the Turner Geriatric Clinic; includes biographical material, correspondence, planning records, name files, and topical files relating to gerontology and rheumatic diseases.

The Ivan Duff papers consist of four and one-half linear feet of records dating from 1947 to 1994, although the bulk of the coverage is from the 1970s. The strength of the collection is the documentation of the development of gerontological medicine at the University of Michigan, particularly the founding of the Turner Geriatric Clinic in 1977. There is very little in this collection, however, relating to Duff's prior activities or to the Rackham Arthritis Research Unit which he directed from 1953 until 1969 (for information on this unit researchers should consult the separate record groups, Rackham Arthritis Unit and the University of Michigan Department of Internal Medicine).

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Michigan is a volunteer group that is part of the U-M Turner Geriatrics Center. The Institute provides learning opportunities for people aged 50 and over through a variety of formats, including lecture series, study groups, mini-courses, and field trips. Established in 1987 as the Learning in Retirement program and renamed in 2006 after receiving a grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation. The records include founding documents, constitutions and bylaws, correspondence, notes, newsletters, flyers and pamphlets, board, committee, and retreat meeting materials, photographs, and other records documenting the Institute's administrative and programming activities.

The University of Michigan Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI-UM) records document the founding of the organization, programming initiatives and descriptions since its beginning, and annual activities through its publications. OLLI-UM records consist of founding documents, correspondence, newsletters, flyers and pamphlets, programming materials, agendas, minutes, and a few photographs.

The Turner Geriatric Clinic was established in 1978 as an extension of the University of Michigan Hospital and is devoted to the medical and social care of the elderly. The collection ranges from 1979 to 2009 (bulk 1990-2008) and contains material on community and social work programs, including photographs, video and audio cassettes, information on programs sponsored by the Center, publications, and material from the U.S.-Japan Training Institute.

The collection consists of materials from the Turner Geriatric Clinic that begins when the Center was established in 1979 and ends with records from 2009, with the bulk covering 1990-2008. The collection contains eight series: Personal Files, Photographs, Programs, Publications, Publicity, Topical Files, U.S.-Japan Institute, and Audio-Visual Materials.
