Kenneth A. Easlick papers, 1924-1979

Professor of dentistry at University of Michigan; personal materials relating to World War I service, speeches, correspondence, and photographs.

The Easlick collection consists of materials relating to his service in World War I with the U.S. Army Ambulance Service Section 591, including copies of Le Jubicourt Matin, a journal of the reminiscences of the men of Unit #591, bulletins, a photograph album and miscellaneous correspondence and directories. Other materials in the collection include speeches, correspondence, and miscellanea relating to his career in children's dentistry. The collection concludes with a presentation volume of remembrances received upon his retirement in 1961, a volume of remembrances received from his students in 1964, and letters of condolence.

Kenneth Ewart Boulding Papers, 1880-1968

Professor of economics at the University of Michigan, director of the Center for Research on Conflict Resolution, fellow of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, and participant in the Society of Friends, the National Council of Churches Department of the Church and Economic Life, and peace and disarmament groups. Correspondence, notes, writings, photographs, recordings, and topical files; also materials concerning his wife, Elise Boulding, and his parents, William and Elizabeth Boulding.

The Boulding papers, consisting of approximately 46 linear feet, fall into the following series and sub-series.

The Davis collection documents his various activities as a teacher, consultant, and practicing forester. Kenneth Thorpe Rowe Papers, 1940-1953

Professor of drama at University of Michigan, chairman of the Committee on War Activities of the American Educational Theatre Association, and secretary of the Theatre for Victory Council during World War II. Files concerning his war activities, including correspondence, scripts, course materials and printed matter; and photographs.

The Kenneth Rowe Collection, though covering the period 1940-1953, largely concerns the years of World War II and the activities of Rove as chairman of the Committee on War Activities for the American Educational Theatre Association (AETA); as secretary of the Theatre for Victory Council; as consultant to the National Theatre Conference (NTC), official agency for all dramatic activities of the Combined Armed Forces; and as drama consultant to the U.S. Department of Treasury, the Office of Civil Defense, and the Office of Education. Rowe's work in all of these efforts concerned the use of drama as a propaganda tool to raise morale and to define America's goals.

The Rowe collection consists of two linear feet of correspondence, reports, newsletters, play scripts, and printed material. The collection begins with general correspondence followed by files which have been arranged by the name of theatre organizations in which Rove was involved.

University of Michigan professor of physics, 1952-1989; specialist in high-energy particle physics; department of physics associate chairman for research, 1985-1989.Papers relating to his research, teaching and administrative activities; include experiment files, topical files, class files and some physics department materials; also some materials on the Michigan Memorial Phoenix Project and the Michigan Superconducting Super Collider Commission; also includes some papers of Alan Krisch.

The collection is divided into two series: Research and Personal Materials and Teaching and Administrative Materials. Terwilliger's curriculum vita (including a list of publications and classes taught) and yearly letters summarizing his research activities are located in the first folder of Box 1.

Klaus F. Riegel Papers, 1955-1977

Professor of psychology and member of the Institute of Gerontology of the University of Michigan. Correspondence, conference and symposium files, teaching materials, grant proposals and reports, and papers and reprints; also papers of Ruth Riegel.

The Klaus Riegel papers, 1955-1977, document his educational, professional, and research activities in the discipline of psychology. The collection includes correspondence, grant applications, and progress reports, research reports, unpublished papers, reprints, lecture notes and transcriptions, syllabi and handouts, examinations, and conference programs. Riegel's specific interests within the discipline of psychology included developmental psychology of the aged, psycholinguistics, and history of the social sciences. Riegel's research activity in these areas was conducted under grant funding. Scope, objectives, and results of various research projects will be found in the Grant Materials series. While a few of the grant applications were to support graduate-level education, the Teaching Materials series contains course-related materials used by Riegel in his classes, most of which were offered through the Psychology department. Professional activity was a large part of Riegel's career. The Correspondence and Conferences and Symposia series are strongly related and illustrate the active role Riegel played in professional and theoretical development.

Latina/o Studies Program (University of Michigan) records, 1984-2007 (majority within 1986-2000)

Housed within the Program in American Culture and originally developed in response to student, faculty, and staff activism at the University, the Latina/o Studies Program at the University of Michigan was founded in the fall of 1984. The Latina/o Studies Program provides an interdisciplinary pan-Latina/o approach to the study of Latina/o history, politics, cultures, social relations, and artistic expression in the United States. The records in this collection date from 1984-2007, with the majority of the records from the period 1986-2000, and document the administrative, teaching, research, and public programs functions of the Latina/o Studies Program.

The Latina/o Studies Program records document the administrative, teaching, research, and public programs functions of the Latino Studies Program. The records in this collection measure 2.5 linear feet, and date from 1984 to 2007, with the majority of the records from the period 1986 to 2000. They are primarily comprised of correspondence, event flyers, meeting minutes, program planning materials, course descriptions and schedules, syllabi, event flyers and promotional materials, faculty search documents, information on visiting professors, and materials from Latina/o staff, faculty, and student organizations at the University of Michigan. The records are organized into five series: Administrative Files, Curriculum, Events and Programs, Faculty, and Latina/o Organizations.

Lawrence S. Berlin papers, 1971-1983

Professor in the University of Michigan School of Education. Subject files relating mainly to his interest in adult and continuing education.

The Berlin papers pertain to those several areas of service which Professor Berlin performed for the University of Michigan School of Education, primarily in the area of adult and continuing education. The papers focus on curriculum and program development for the Department of Adult and Continuing Education, with a small amount of information about other areas in which Berlin was involved.

The collection is arranged into one alphabetical series. By far the richest of the collection concerns his involvement with Adult and Continuing Education (ACE). It is organized by date in five separate folders, spanning the years 1971 through 1983. These files include reports and other information on the curriculum's development, departmental memos regarding faculty and staff, and Berlin's rise within the department from professor to department chair. ACE was, at times, a controversial endeavor for the School of Education and sparked much discussion on the theories and practices of adult education. The ACE files end with a folder containing issues of the ACE Reporter, a student publication of the ACE Department where Berlin was a frequent contributor and subject for student writings.

Smaller in size are files relating to Continuing Education and Community Development (CECD), the U-M Extension Service, and the Gerontology and Program in Human Resources Development. While these files are interesting because their presence testifies to a relationship between the School of Education and these branch areas, the records are so sporadic that none of them significantly clarify the relationship shared with the School of Education.

The collection concludes with miscellaneous correspondence and publications. The publication file contains a copy of Continuum, an adult education magazine to which Berlin contributed.

The Lawrence W. Jones Papers document Jones' professional activities as an experimental physicist throughout his career from 1952 through 2006, including major research interests as well as his participation in professional organizations and the administrative life of the University of Michigan. Jones' papers are arranged in seven series: Superconducting Super Collider, Professional Activities, Correspondence, Research Logs, and Subject Files, Biographical, and Professional Files.

The Law School History Oral History Interviews contain transcripts and audio cassette tapes of interviews with University of Michigan Law School faculty discussing their background, education, careers, and the Law School.

This record group consists of three series, Oral History Transcripts, Oral History Audiocassettes, and Oral History Computer Discs. The series contain audiocassettes, bound copies of the transcripts and subject indexes, and a small number of computer discs with transcript files. Transcripts and cassettes are arranged alphabetically by interviewee.

The interviews typically include discussions of the interviewees' backgrounds and education, and subsequent commentary on legal education. The administration of the law school is well covered in these interviews which also add significant detail to the operation of the University as a whole.
