The Carl Cohen papers is comprised of correspondence, memoranda, writings, and topical files reflecting his teaching and other responsibilities as a member of the faculty of the University of Michigan. In addition, other files document his activities in other organizations, such as the American Civil Liberties Union and as a labor and grievance arbitrator. Many of the files concern his continuing interest in such contemporary issues as affirmative action and the use of animals in medical research.

A community history project intended to record memories and information about East Quad, the traditional home of Residential College, before the structure underwent significant renovations in the summer of 2012. The collection includes video footage and email correspondence of current and former residents, administrators, faculty, and staff sharing stories about life in East Quad as well as a documentary video, images of murals, and a cookbook from the Halfway Inn café.

The East Quad Memory Project records preserves the memories of East Quad as shared by current and former Residential College students, staff and administrators. The collection provides documents the impact of the College's unique environment on students and will furthermore be of use to those interested in the social life and customs of University of Michigan students. The record group consists of two series: East Quadapalooza and Historical Records.

The Staff Files subgroup contains the files of individual of vice-presidents, associate and assistant vice-presidents, and other staff members within the vice-president's office.

The Staff Files subgroup of the record group Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs consists of 570 linear feet and spans the years from 1947 to 2013. The Staff Files subgroup is comprised of the records of the associate and assistant vice presidents for academic affairs. Whereas the records of the Central Files subgroup often contain finished products, such as reports and policy statements, the Staff Files subgroup tends to document the process of policy formation and other decision-making functions. Scattered through the associate and assistant vice presidents' papers, for example, are frank statements of opinion regarding various schools and programs, candidates for promotion, and the relationship between the branches of the university, as well as notes on meetings with faculty members, committee activities, and other subjects.

The Supplemental Files subgroup of the record group Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs consists of 155 linear feet (in 159 boxes) and spans the years from 1953 to 2013. This subgroup consists of material that was not interfiled with the vice presidents' or staff's papers when the record group was received. The records generally were not created or maintained by any one staff member in the Office of Academic Affairs, but rather are the result of the examination of a particular issue or topic over a period of time by a variety of people.

Residential College (University of Michigan) publications, 1956-2018

Contains brochures, bulletins and course catalogs, directories, manuals, newsletters such as the Ar See Nooz, RC News, R.C. Newsletter, and the Residential College Newsletter, programs, prospectuses, reports, and schedules. Also contains programs from the Residential College Players, and an anthology entitled Tales from Around the Bend by the Residential College Writers Group. Includes student publications such as the anthologies Chrysalis and Trains. Also contains an anthology entitled Crosswinds, programs, reports and working paper from the Mackenzie High School/Residential College Educational Project and the Mackenzie High School/University of Michigan Writing Program.

The Publications of the Residential College are divided into three series: Unit Publications, Sub-Unit Publications, and Student Publications.

The Unit Publications series contains printed material published specifically by the University of Michigan Residential College. These publications are defined as being widely distributed and may be published at regular intervals. They are arranged by genre of the publication.
