The collection consists of correspondence, primarily from the period when Weideman was a member of Congress; files relating to his election campaign and to a few of the issues of the time; and miscellaneous other materials from his career with the Wayne County Circuit Court and as a member of the American Turners. There is also an extensive series of scrapbooks detailing his professional and civic activities and several folders of photographs.

The Subject file, arranged alphabetically, includes correspondence with Wells' many friends and colleagues as well as other files detailing his scholarly interests and organizational activities. There are, for instance, extensive files relating to his analysis of new editions of dictionaries, particularly Webster's New World Dictionary 1953 edition, to his participation with the Michigan Committee of Americans for Poland, and to his interest the usage of the English language.

The Subject File, contained in boxes 1-2, covers the period 1982-1986. It includes correspondence, interviews, budget proposals, speeches, articles, lists and reports concerning administration of the project, and staff activities. Two major; portions of the material are D. Lydia Bronte's survey on aging, which familiarized her with the subject, and Bronte and Alan Pifer's trip to Sweden, where they studies aging in Europe's oldest society. Teaching-Learning Communities Records

The Teaching-Learning Communities Records series (1971-2012, 5.5 linear feet plus one oversize box and one oversize folder) consists of materials related to the T-LC program created by Tice and others. This includes administrative materials such as budgets, planning and volunteer records as well as correspondence. Additionally are event records from a visit by Margaret Mead and a concert by Eva Jessye, as well as curricular materials created by T-LC and Lifespan Resources, Inc. such as guidebooks, training materials, and worksheets used by volunteers and teachers. Finally some student work is included along and informational materials such as photographs of students and volunteers, newspaper clippings about T-LC, brochures, posters, and scrapbooks.
