The collection consists of published sermons and Sunday evening radio addresses given by Father Coughlin in the period 1930-1940. The materials are arranged chronologically.

Charles Edwin Kent, a resident of Ann Arbor, Michigan, worked as an engineer, solving complex technological problems for Bendix Corporation for most of his career, first in the Systems Division, and later in the Aerospace Systems Division. Kent worked on automotive, communications, weaponry, and space research, as well as a number of other subjects. The collection encompasses material primarily from his college years through his career. The series in the collection are Personal Files and Professional Files. Papers primarily include research notes, internal company memorandums, and research reports.

The Personal Files series (1.5 linear feet) includes information about Kent's hometown of Augusta, Michigan. Materials include Augusta newspapers mentioning the Kent family and Augusta bicentennial publications. There is also a focus on Kent's years at Augusta High School and the University of Michigan. Two scrapbooks, one of Charles' and one of his wife, Nancy's, provide information about their social lives and accomplishments while in school. There are also college course materials, including textbooks, primarily from the college of engineering, as well as University of Michigan magazines and football publications. Also of note and biographical importance are resumes and detailed descriptions of his work experience written by Kent.

Lawyer in Detroit, Mich., who served as adjutant and judge advocate in the U.S. 339th Infantry during the Allied Intervention in Russia, 1918-1920, the "Polar Bear Expedition." Collection includes biographical and genealogical information, family correspondence, a history of the Manchester, Mich., High School class of 1907; war diary, July-Nov. 1918; correspondence, financial material and memorabilia relating to his war service and veterans' activities; and photographs.

Dexter, Michigan, farmer and chairman of the Washtenaw County Committee of the Greenback Party. Correspondence concerning activities of Greenback Party in county, particularly relating to election of 1878, and other papers concerning the Bates family during the Civil War.

The Charles Franklin Bates collection consists of correspondence, clippings, and miscellaneous relating to his war-time service and to his activities with the Knights of Labor and the Greenback Party. The collection is arranged into three series: Correspondence, Correspondence - Family, and Topical Files. Of particular interest is the Greenback Party correspondence which discusses the party's strategies, meetings, and speakers in the Ann Arbor area, the 1878 election, and local figures in the party. A letter, November 2, 1878, includes comments on the potential black vote for the Greenback party in the coming election. Much of the correspondence conveys personal and business information about Bates, especially correspondence with Emma and DeForest Lichfield and Gilett Salmon. There is, however, also letters about the Knights of Labor, especially a letter, 1886, from T.V. Powderly.

The microfilm is a duplicate of Greenback's Party correspondence folder with additional correspondence of family and friends.

The Charles Fey collection is comprised of correspondence conducted in the course of his research into the history of freemasonry in Michigan and in Oakland County in particular. The collection also includes extensive materials about individual masons. The collection is arranged into the following series: Scottish Rite Masonry in Michigan; Knight Templars in Michigan; Masonry in Oakland County, Michigan; Royal Arch and Grand Arch Masons in Michigan; Early Masonry and Leading Masons in Michigan; Masonic History; and Other research and personal interests.

Charles F. Frey was a Professor of Surgery at the University of Michigan, chairman of the Michigan Emergency Services Health Council, founder of the University Association for Emergency Medical Services, chairman of the American College of Surgeons' Michigan Committee on Trauma, and a member of the Washtenaw County Emergency Medical Service Health Council. Frey is known for his work in the development of emergency management systems at a state and national level, for the development of medical specializations in trauma, and for pancreatic surgery research. The collection includes correspondence, reports, records of emergency medicine organizations, and Frey's autobiographical account of his work in emergency medicine.

The Charles F. Frey papers document his work during the 1960s and 1970s in the development of emergency services, training, and policies in Michigan as well as nationwide. He participated in these efforts through organizations such as the Michigan Emergency Services Health Council (MESH), The American College of Surgeons, the University Association for Emergency Medical Services, the Michigan Advisory Council, and the Washtenaw County Emergency Medical Service Health Council. The majority of the collection is related to MESH and the University Association for Emergency Medical Services as Frey was key in the establishment and development of those organizations. The contents of the collection are paper materials and are arranged in three series: Michigan Emergency Services Health Council, Emergency and Trauma Organizations, and Biographical and Personal.

Michigan Emergency Services Health Council, 1970-1974

The Michigan Emergency Services Health Council, 1970 -- 1974 series (1.5 linear feet) contains Frey's records of the organization including correspondence, reports surveys, records on legislation, task forces and additional documentation. The MESH Council was founded in 1970 and it was comprised of over seventy members from emergency related agencies. The organization had nine task forces that guided its work in emergency medical technician training, transportation, communications, hospital emergency facilities, emergency care systems, financing, legislation, public relations, and disaster planning.

Mr. Holman's papers primarily reflect his activity in the Michigan State NAACP. The papers consist of 1.3 linear feet of material containing letters, memoranda, minutes, reports, and printed material documenting Holman's work in the state and national NAACP organizations.

The papers are organized in three series: Correspondence, arranged chronologically, 1973 and 1977-1986; NAACP Files, 1970-1986, arranged alphabetically; and Topical Files, 1978-1986, arranged alphabetically. Since the files are closely interrelated, the researcher is encouraged to review the files in all three series.
